Broken Borders

“In the year of 1945, the world has stopped making sense.” -Father Jonas Mercer before the bombs fell on Dublin

 

The world has gone to chaos. Following the death of Adolf Hitler, his council and generals let loose a stockpile of weapons and activated various agents within the various nations of the world. For all intents and purposes, this is the end of the world. In some places all forms of technology have collapsed, and tribal rulers reign while in others bastions of civilization remain.

 

It's the year of 1990, forty five years after the world suffered a devastating blow from one of the cruelest dictators in the history of our species. Our children's children will judge us for our actions, should there even be a world left for them to live in.

 

The use of firearms is limited, with most soldiers bearing homemade or inherited, and bands of lawless marauders roam the fledgling nations of mankind. There is no room for kindness or charity, only safety and security.

 

An OOC Overview

What's up guys! It's been some time since I've been involved in an FRP and unfortunately I was forced to abandon my last one due to illness, and I hated that because it was just getting fun.

 

But to the topic at hand! I hope this is going to be something interesting. The world is very dystopian, think of it as a fallout style world but not nuked (so there's green) and no energy weapons or power armor. There's lots of abandoned land, lots of overgrown greenery, raiders, and risk to take.

 

You'll be playing a fledgling nation of small size, the leader of a town of a few thousand. There will be NPC nations here to give you hell, marauders attacking you, and internal issues. This is not going to be an easy frp and the chance of your head of state dying is very likely if you don't play it safe.

 

Equipment is very limited for soldiers, with swords, knives, machetes, clubs, and the like being the most common as firearms are prized possessions, and most are homemade or inherited and poorly maintained. Maybe 1 in 15 people have a gun, and 1 in 100 have a decent firearm.

 

Planes and automobiles are common but due to a lack of any real sources of oil, they're not something reasonable to use early game, as you'd need to seriously build up a nation.

 

You'll be carefully managing your economy, military, and every other aspect of your nation.

 

For ease of economy, we’re going to use fallout style bottlecaps as currency. You're free to make your own but bottlecaps are the preferred currency of the world.

The Holy Reich of Germany, also known as the 4th Reich was founded in the ashes from the fires of the Great War. With the world collapsing and societal breakdowns, loyal and patriot German Officers and soldiers banded together to save Germany from its Nazi Oppressors. The crimes of the 3rd Reich were unforgivable, while many respect the prosperity from which it brought for the years leading to WWII much of this was forgotten following the events that lead to the worlds downfall. A German Commander by the name of Wulf Gehring was able to bring together several officers and ranking officials to create a new government. In the chaos of the breakdown He and his men were able to secure Berlin and bring a sizable amount of civilians together, the new nation was born under the notion of Militaristic Traditions and Patriotism, and the populas looks to the Church for guidance as a Religous Leader from the church holds a ceremonial position in the government to maintain a more personal relationship with the civilian populace. Its goverment officials to be elected after the first terms are required to have previously or currently served in the military for at least 4 years. Its borders under threat from Nazi Sympathizers and marauding vagabonds, the 4th Reich calls to its people to rebuild the once powerful great nation of Germany and forever secure its future in the world.

After the Great War that lead to the collapse of all society the Japanese Empire fell to pieces, the Prosperity Sphere falling apart. Much of Japan reverted back to its Feudal ways, the patriarch of Clan Satsuma at the time part of the new peerage of Japan decided to take on the mantle of his ancestors and claim Satsuma for his own and eventually go on to take all of Kyushu. Managing to secure Emperor Showa and the Imperial Yamato Dynasty in his home Castle in order to keep them safe. Now they lay waiting, waiting to restore the land of the rising sun.

Tokarev's Legion was and is the small amount of Armed Solders of the red army assigned to guard the One and only Fedor Tokarev and his weapons manufacturing and design company. Istuv being an hair to this name and Small contingent of people that as the world came to a theoretical end flocked to him and his family for safety and a way to survive. The group has formed a working order based on merit, those that wanted to be weapons designers but were best suited to be something like a gardener are gardeners being one example. Istuv his advisers and the "Voice of the people" a elected official meant to give the people voice in the State council Most often he is the Religious leader and is voted from among the Bishops and priests of the People as they hold the most trust among the people.

As the world shattered following the Führer's fate leaving nothing but destruction, mere distant memories and fragments of once-great nations, in the 3rd Reich's merciless final stand, the Global Enclave Assimilation Society arose from the ashes to restore the planet to its former grandeur. A new regime quickly climbed to power above the cooperative populace in its order, and from the simple seven-man council made up of those believed to be most appropriate for the position came the organization's prime directive: Guarantee purity, by any means. This decree lead to radical changes within the society as, over time, its populace became cold and harsh: If no cure was discovered, disease was met with quarantine and not unusually purging by fiery sterilization; Any with physical abnormalities face a similar fate as the ill; Rumors spread of secret development of a Maple Syrup flavored Coca Cola soda.

The Alexian Federation was born when the people of Alexandria, both of the UK citizens, and Egyptian citizens, gathered together, under the age-old philosophy, safety in numbers. As the population grew, the people came up with a way of governing, using Meritocracy as base. All was well, at first, until corruption began settling in. The council appointed to decide who belonged where, began to make poor choices, as people bribed their way into easier jobs. To counter this, the general populace voted to place someone in power, to keep corruption in check. This person would not be able to be voted out of power, except by a 90% majority vote, and would remain in power until the 90% majority, the person died, or the person stepped down of their own volition.

 

Bastet Griffith was voted into this position, so as to monitor any possible corruption. Anyone with her seal had the right to investigate any member of the council, so long as she gave direct permission. To this end, a small number of the military was assigned to her, to act as her bodyguards, and investigators. Anyone who was discovered to be corrupt was immediately placed in the bottom of their area of expertise, going from the highest position, to the lowest, and was promptly replaced by whoever the majority of that field agreed was the most effective member of that section of work.

 

The sections of the council were as follows: Military, Research, Engineering, Construction, Food, Commerce, and Internal Affairs. Any other section necessary would be voted on by the council. To make sure that Bastet could reliably identify corruption, she was given education with each structure, to allow her to adequately respond to each section of the council.

As the world shattered, a bands of survivors all formally from Texas had decided to form the old but great Texas Republic. Calling it the New Texas Republic. Clyde's father was one of the founding fathers of the Republic, and restore it to where it is today. The Republic has seemingly been open to newcomers but as of late due to a massive plague through the south east, they have been wary of 'outsiders'. Each person owns a weapons, ranging from the basic club to a Thompson sub-machine gun the rarest of the weapons in the nations land. Now led by Clyde, he seeks to return of power in the Republic seeking new lands and trade to further grow.

After a siege of 54 days, they captured the metropolis and renamed it to New Constantinople. Forming a congress made up of 40 members, they elected the leader of the nationalists, Alexios, to be the king-in-council, renaming himself as Constatine XII of the new house of Alexaius. Within a year, they annexed most of Anatolia as the Turks fled to the middle east, before promptly crumbling. Now with no real enemy, the Empire is experiencing a rebirth as the center of culture and commerce.

After the war had finally died down, Switzerland while still fairly damaged from unrest and riots would finally come to settle with a newly designated ruler from the Hazberg family, a decently well off family that survived away from the dangers of the big city but gradually gained strength and soon moved into the old capital of Switzerland retaking and claiming the city of Bern for the New Swiss Confederacy. Now the daughter of the man who reunited a small part of the fractured nation plans to reunite the Swiss nation and make sure the war does not start again; Meanwhile in the new small Swiss state a form of income begins to take form while they begin to jump start the industry and agriculture to supply the populous with food and weaponry to defend themselves.

The bane of many states was the sheer chaos that ensued after the tumult of 1945; without a government to enforce the rule of law, people pillaged, looted, and murdered each other without remorse. Morality held weak in the west, as individualistic cultures depended solely on that social contract between the people and the government to preserve the order. Yet, imagine a place where the government had never needed to intervene on behalf of the people, because of a codex of morals 500 years old: this is Northern Albania. In the plateau covering this vast, barren area, speckled with rivers and shrubbery, the populace has always abided by the iron Kanun, a set of almost sacred commandments that dictated everything from how a man should sleep, to that man's religion. These laws of retribution, morality, and preservation held strong even throughout the most troubling of times, and ultimately saved some of the northern tribes that abided by them.

 

The Kanun is infinitely complex, and therefore scholars of the codex have always existed. These scholars had an almost hereditary claim to their title, boasting of perhaps falsified descendance from the Kanun's half-mythical writer, Lek Dukagjini. The Binak family, once interpreters of the Kanun, claimed this prestigious position after the fall of the government, and the fall of the Orosh municipality which had previously regulated the Kanun. The most recent ruler, Ali Binak, has consolidated his power under the ancient codex, unifying separate "banners" or tribes, under one authority and effectively forming a Kanun-based state. The hardy malesore, or people of the mountains, persevere through these tough times solely through their inextinguishable belief in the Kanun and in Binak.

After the war had finally died down, Switzerland while still fairly damaged from unrest and riots would finally come to settle with a newly designated ruler from the Hazberg family, a decently well off family that survived away from the dangers of the big city but gradually gained strength and soon moved into the old capital of Switzerland retaking and claiming the city of Bern for the New Swiss Confederacy. Now the daughter of the man who reunited a small part of the fractured nation plans to reunite the Swiss nation and make sure the war does not start again; Meanwhile in the new small Swiss state a form of income begins to take form while they begin to jump start the industry and agriculture to supply the populous with food and weaponry to defend themselves.

Perhaps I didn't specify it well enough. When I mean Northern Albania - Southern Montenegro, I meant a small town in that general vicinity. Furthermore, I believe I did specify that the area was scarcely populated. When I mean scarcely, I mean very scarcely, as in two houses every hundred miles. I thought this much was plain, and did not needed to be explained as you stated it in the rules, which I did read as I was expected to. I never meant for this to be a large nation, and purposely made it a tight knit, ideology-based tribal state to fit the small population theme. Meanwhile, others are reviving the German Reich. I thought I made that much plain in my post. I'm not claiming northern albania and southern montenegro, you asked for a general "location."

 

EDIT: I see why that looked large. When I wrote "Balkans", I did not mean as the nation controls the balkans, rather that it is found there. I put it there as an arch-region for the Montenegro-Albania area.
