Rant?

alright lets make it into a Rant/Thread. I`d like to know if I`m no the only one thinking its getting a bit ridiculous.

Just counted 25 Orenian vassals. Able to house 5 up to 15 people. Lets say the average here is 10, that means that there`s 250 orenians, lets say a third is active, about 85. Lets be optimistic and say there`s 100 active Oreners, why the hell, are they spread about 25 places and don`t just limit that to 3 major cities without giving out land to any random noble to build a village? Look at welves for instance, they give nobles a mansion, so only small families, about 4-5 of them, are outside of the city house-wise. Orcs: they have 1 main hub for activity, 1 dense city and look at how their community grows. What I mean is... Stop bloody giving out land and spread rp. And center rp in major cities instead of creating (Though sometimes nice-looking) Ghost Towns.

Have mercy, FM don`t remove memes.

They don't have to have settlements to be a vassal though. Vassal means you, as an individual or a group/house, are bound by oath to a liege lord. The vassal is given several obligations in return for special privileges, usually including a fiefdom (aka land). Hope that cleared up stuff about our RP ! :)

Its the infinite flow of villages popping up everywhere. As I said, give nobles manors, not towns. etc. etc. its all in there

I agree. I think the only towns should be the capital and small settlements near the capital of a duchy. Baronies and counties should be keeps/manors.

Should have charters for the nobles. Special privileges to raise towns, castles or villages. wew

I proposed Ideas when I was giving KIIWIKILLA some help on Istria. Coming to the conclusion that only the ducal cities should be able to be the large settlements. Giving additional Nobles either a strategically placed PvP fortress (I mean warclaim worthy forts) and mansions. Only allowing a settlement to be created with their permission, when the ducal city has shown to have 30 active members or more.

I like the Idea on having charters on smaller settlements, with a rule system for activity. Much like an MA the Land owners have to approve of the charter.

FastTravels have ruined this, so keep them stuck to only FT`s to these larger Ducal cities, and keep any manors, keeps and smaller settlements connected with short roads, instead of giving everybody an FT.

I was just talking with someone else about this on skype and I do agree, though I do think there should still be a few small villages for those that prefer village rp, and only given to few people, instead of what you see now with what seems like almost whole cities given to small families.

I believe this was discussed in the Community Meeting for when it comes to 4.5.1 and 5.0.

Thank god, ah well. I`m glad people see my point here. ^-^

I`ve been here since September 2nd last year, I`m simply going on my current observations. I don`t know what previous maps looked like.

+1

Spreads out rp far too much, I know everyone said Athera was way too small but atleast if you walked into an Orenian town/city you would see people. On this map you have to search for rp or make it yourself, which alot of players do not want to do.

I 100% agree with what you've said. I often go around the human kingdom/lands and there are tons of just EMPTY towns everywhere, not to mention the shear network of wagons they have going to all of these various towns. Don't tell me it's the time either, I have the opportunity to be on at all times of the day several days a week #CollegeLife. I think if you want lords, the lords need enough people backing them to make an entire town just for themselves and the people need to rp their...

I disagree.

Imagine the enormous regions of land that one faction owns, unpopulated, ready for every enemy to go through it without any obstacle, that's one reason for spreading out the defensive positions that are given to noblemen around the provinces, another little plus is that it helps declaring the borders of the faction. Another thing is the will of people to begin a new thing, if it is a guild,

a settlement, a guard force or whatever you want, the factions that give those people an opportunity, not only bringing noble roleplaying, but actually getting to develop something of their own. As well as knowing of several organizations (In this case these organizations are the settlements / guard forces / guildes etc.) that are spread across the land, bring much more RP and most importantly fun. Think that you're in a faction with lets say, 5 organizations which are spread across three major cities, with no opportunity to spread their borders around the endless lands. As well spreading TONS of roleplaying life styles in fishing villages, hunting villages, farming villages, and not only major city roleplaying styles. And alittle small plus is the realistic part of it, and the happy feeling when you see castles and smaller settlements spread across a faction.

Aegis, the original map(granted is was just a MC generated map back in early beta of MC) started out condensed. Each capital was a short walk away from spawn and didn't take too long to go from one capital to another(again granted this was back when builds were pretty bad but good at the time I guess). However because of that, other people who "spread out" didn't go too far this area and there were roads to pretty much anywhere you went to(for the most part). I may seeing Aegis though a rose-tinted view but, I do believe that even though the RP then was a bit bad, there was plenty of it. There was war/pvp but, not incredible often. Raids didn't really exist as much(I don't think). Again probably seeing this through the magically view of nostalgia.

I'm just saying, we don't need extremely big maps so we all could have our own hut/village in the middle of no where because we want to feel special. I'm not calling for a small either because I know how much people hate walking around stepping on other people's toes. I'm saying what we need a medium sized map(whatever that could mean), with a few centralized hubs(For each main race; Human, Elves, Dwarves and Orcs. Other races will have to ask for some land or something and sub races will probably share a hub). From there we could branch out slowly and I mean slowly, none of this "I want land" then getting land because you determined that for some forsaken reason you're special and important. Only to waste said land and probably move else where.

I don't know. Centralizing= good. Not saying we got to put our capitals within throwing distance. But try to keep it centralize and slowly, allow some settlements to pop up over time. And have a system of where if the settlement gets to inactive- nature over takes it(Because nature does take over man-made structures in time and if we dont upkeep, we'd lose our structures).

Oh and get rid of the 90 million unneeded fast travels. Having a few? Sure. But the amount of fast travels is way too much.

I stopped reading after this point, apart from the fact you need to clean up how the post is written.

If these enormous regions of land are unpopulated, they are unpopulated. Which is where the problems lies. If a faction has empty unpopulated land, they should lose it just because of #muhrealism. If a enemy is willing to drag through territory, and its taken back. That is a territorial war, which is fine, but when its that empty (many of them barely see more then a couple of people per day.) It's just... not pretty in the end.
