Oren Guard

I am extremely disappointed with the general 'view' of the Oren Guard.

People tell me my guards are 'fools' and are 'brutal', they generalise but never give me names (neither screenshots) which would help us improve. I want to try and gather support for us, yet people still stay with the same 'stereotypes' that we are dreadful and always will be. We need the support of the public to help us improve, please don't just keep your thoughts to yourself after a guard was supposedly 'brutal' to you, tell me or Ashkae their names and the situation.

People think of the Oren Guard as a somewhat enemy, They do not see them as there to protect them against bandits and undead. I want to get the feeling that the Oren Guard are they're to help. But we need your support!

I have said this many times before, and I will say it again

Do not judge us on our recruits!Keep that in mind.

OOC: Pm me in game or on the forums if you think you know what is pulling us down, or any general idea on what is bad/good and what to improve on.

whats bogging you down is to many guards are in it for the money, back with the old guards we did it for hounour and pride, also the gate duty is another problem,i suggest hireing a ***** or having a few dice games get started at the gate house. And you need to keep your boys active, like wilderness hikes, drills, and to see how fast they man the defenses. Start arm and armoring every single guard and have a parade,is they march in step in full suits of mail they will look wonderful, thats a knights and former captains advice.

Dear All,

I agree that The Public of Oren disrespect the Guards that ensure our Grounds safe. Have the Undead taken controll of our cities and villages? NO. So they must be doing A good job, As for me I have experience being a Gaurd for it was my former self. We do not appritiate you calling them fools because If they were none of the Oren Guard there would be a big difference in the Tolerance around here.

I remember having that enthusiasm to get my guards doing something, dice games, fishing in the water from the walls ect. ect. I'm rather bogged down with a lot of things... I now have full trust in Ashkae, and I will instruct him to try and get this started.

Thank you (Grim) It is very much appreciated.

((Close your sewer grates and tear down the hills and trees that allow access through and over your walls from the outside. It's pretty ineffective to have guards posted at the gate when one can easily enter discretely within a 100 feet on both the left and the right sides.))

((I agree, however the biggest issue is the human soulstone.))

I also implore you to tell me as well, I'll happily report to Captain Felix about which you said the second I see him if he's not present.

((you are right ned but 1/15th of oren is defended/watched over, but it will never fall since it keeps the server active. But i suggest opening the gates and start a better training, also get the clans involved.)

((I don't judge you on your Recruits, I judge you on your Seargents and Captains. I was in the Gate House for 20 Minutes without getting spotted by one of them, even though I was 5blocks away from them and sometimes just 2..

To be honest: Make a Reform on the Guards. Everyone of you should start at 0. As Elyter said, involve the Clans more.))

Do not judge us on our recruits!Keep that in mind.

You should not recruit someone who you do not deem worthy to represent the Oren guard. If I employ an architect to work for me, their work is what represent me and my organization as well as the people who will later inhabit the building. You are responsible for the titles you give sir. Keep THAT in mind.

Also to note in respect of defending the city, your guard is too small and the city is too big to reasonably protect all of it, that is the real reason for the King having a Keep built. It is intended for the people and to have those not capable to wield a sword, axe, or bow to take shelter in a crisis. It's on a hill and designed to withstand battle. The rest of the city can be rebuilt as long as the people to rebuild it survive. The best place for that would be in the keep. ((Think Battle of Helms Deep))

((Close your sewer grates and tear down the hills and trees that allow access through and over your walls from the outside. It's pretty ineffective to have guards posted at the gate when one can easily enter discretely within a 100 feet on both the left and the right sides.))

((Keep in mind both aspects of RP, both antagonist and protagonist perspectives. The Sewers I designed are intended for use by the thieves and murderers of Oren to inhabit, give them in's and out's and more interesting ways to escape the city (or enter it). If you lock down the entire city, it not only becomes less fun for them, but forces them or any anti-oren player to take more drastic measures to get into the city. Also, when the gate is left locked on both ends and no guard is present to man the gate, how do you expect people to leave and enter. No city should by impenetrable for obvious OOC reasons. Now i'm not saying in times of war, you can shut everything down momentarily assuming war will be declared and walls will eventually get destroyed, sure. Until then however, I say leave things open and practical from an OOC perspective))

Unlike architects, a recruit for the guards have nothing to show for. They dont have any certificates of qualifications to become a guard or examples of work to show us. Wielding a blade is not sufficient enough to be a good guard, you need to have a quick wit and street smart knowledge. Thats why the guards take in recruits. And that is why thy're kept under watch, if they're good e can promote them.
