A Slight Amendment to Self Teaching

Greetings friends!

Not so recently a post has gone up detailing a change to self teaching.

With this post came a promise that the MAT was voting on one more change to that to make learning magic easier for those who are just entering said realm. The new terms that we have come up with, as written by a wonderful lad known as Hugo are detailed below. (Amendments bolded)

- You can self teach if you are adept in a magic of the same field (e.g. You can self learn sensory illusion if you are already adept in Mental Magic).
- You require an OOC overseer who either has a TA in the magic or is a member of the MT.
- You cannot self teach magics that aren't on the self teach list.
- Evocations can be self taught without having prior magics, but you must have an OOC overseer with a TA or a MT member overseeing you.
- When self taught, one takes six months to get to teacher level, instead of four months.
- Self teaching players must provide screenshots/report of their progress at certain intervals (for the first month it must be every week; for the second month, it must be twice a month; for the third month, at least one report must be given).

- If you have a teach-only magic, you may teach yourself said magic (this obviously does not apply to some magics, and loopholes may not be formed this way).

Keep in mind that you have previously self taught these changes do not apply to you, only those from this point onward. If you would like to offer any feedback or ideas we are more than open towards such.

First?

Edit: Also (never messed around in magic so I'm a fetus as of asking this question) But is the TA 6 months after hitting tier 5. Or 6 months after first initially learning it.

Also with the OOC overwatch is there a limit to how many people a teacher could watch over (since again not sure but a student limit?)

Realized a grammar mistake.

It is 6 months since initially learning it in order to gain a TA.

And no, there isn't a specific limit. Although it generally would fall under the 5 student cap.

What if people who have already passed the 4 month self teach bench mark with a self teach app that is before this new rule, can they still apply for TA or will they have to wait the extra 2 months?

This amendment does not apply to those of previous, yes.

I don't like it..... I'm confused on a few points, does this mean that, there is literally no way to self-teach sensory illusion if you're not a mental mage? Because it's nearly impossible to find a teacher and that's kind of an annoying rule... I don't like confusing change ;- ;

There was a previous change declaring this. You can not self teach illusion without knowing mental magic or cognitism.

What if you're obviously OOCly versed in magic? I don't understand why people who clearly grasp the majority of the facets of our magical system are still held back by unnecessary regulations.

It's certainly an improvement!

Perhaps if you don't already know a magic in the subtype, you could go through some kind of interview, similar to that of the TA interview.

Otherwise, everything is good.

Its better when magic gets a little more locked down, I like the change. Secure but not overly.

Does it apply to ones who didn't pass the 4 month mark, but did do their self-taught app before the change?
