The Mathic Cycle Explained~

The premise behind the Mathic Ages is that there was, in the beginning of our Ancient Universe, One, True God. He was omnipotent, all-powerful, and the embodiment of an Ancient magic known simply as the “Infinite Creativity.” Using this magic, the Ancient God formed the universe and all that was within it. Since he was alone in this vast universe, he created life to serve as his children to share in the power of Infinite Creativity. The magic of Infinite Creativity, however, stirred up within his children a great desire to seize the power for themselves. Together, they endeavored to claim Infinite Creativity for themselves and overthrow their father. Since they only shared a small fragment of the power, they could not completely destroy their father, so they initiated a far more clever plan.

Combining their efforts, the children used the power to shatter their father into many pieces, separating his once great power into many smaller pieces. The Ancient God became trapped within beacons of light which glowed with their own fragments of the ancient power. The children rejoiced in their new found dominance, but it was short-lived for the Ancient God set upon them a curse before being shattered and sealed away. He set into motion a cycle in which his children would be forced to continue as long as they chose to keep the power of Infinite Creativity for themselves. These ages would eventually become known as the Mathic Cycle. The only cycle which is known to us is the most recent cycle.

It begins with the Seventh Mathic Age of the previous realm where the Mortals have combined into a single consciousness united in the Infinite Creativity in order to reforge the universe according to their design. When they are finished, they are spun back out into the world in whatever forms they have designated for themselves without any recollection of the actions they have just performed. The beacons, weak from the reforging, but still maintaining a sliver of the ancient power, bind together and hide their physical forms away from the Mortals. Since they are no longer able to function as one entity, the beacons begin to conflict in regards to which method might be best in order to guide the Mortals to the ultimate goal of destroying the beacons and freeing the One, True God.

This is how the basic ideas of Good and Evil comes about. The beacons project themselves into the First Mathic Age in the forms of the Immortals. They found the ideas of the Creator and accidentally create the four races when an internal conflict arises amongst them. As the conflict grows in intensity, the Mortals begin to suffer more and more because of it. The Immortal Iblees, being guided by the ideals of power, wishes to force the Mortals to release them in the Third Mathic Age, but the Immortal Aeriel and her companions resolve to guide the Mortals, instead, being more influenced by the ideals of free will.

As the conflict reaches an apex, the Immortal Gazardiael triggers the events which will unlock the Second Mathic Age. One of the mortals destroys the Nexus, the connection which bound allowed the Immortals to interact with the First Mathic Age. Chaos ensues and the Mortals are forced to flee to the second realm while the Immortals are forcefully withdrawn into their beacons to recharge. As the Immortals become sealed within their beacons, their recollections of the First Mathic Age are lost to them. The Mortals continue on into the Second Mathic Age free from the influence of the Immortals.

Being that the Mortals are moving ever nearer to the resting place of the beacons, some begin to access dormant magical capabilities left over from their interaction with the Infinite Creativity. Nations are forged and societies are built. With this new found freedom, however, the Mortals begin to war with each other for the conquest of domination. With no higher power to subjugate them, they begin to subjugate each other fighting for the right to be the superior society. War, however, comes at a high cost and the realm begins to suffer because of it. On top of that, abuses of the latent ancient power begin to add more chaos to the confusion. Eventually, the Mortals are forced to flee the war torn land in search for a new paradise.

As they sail the unknown sea, they come across islands in which the Immortals had hidden clues in order to guide the Mortals into the Third Mathic Age. The Mortals will eventually uncover the Mathic Prophecies and make their final journey to the resting place of the beacons. Once they arrive, the prophecies will guide them to a Temple where they will be given the choice to unlock the Ancient Power of the Beacons. If they choose to do so, the beacons shall be lit and the Mortals and Immortals will be reunited once more with the beginning of the Third Mathic Age.

Thus, the Mathic Cycle shall begin with the First Mathic Age once again. The Cycle shall continue as long as the Mortals choose to hold the power for themselves within the Fourth Mathic Age. They can be reunited with their Father, but it involves a true act of selflessness. Taking the great power and using it to free the Ancient God. Until such a time comes, the Mortals will forever be doomed to relive the Mathic Cycle in an endless loop.

The Katalytis~

*Before the Mathic Ages there was only the One True God from whom the Void, a creation of infinite potential sprang forth. It is some who describe this God to be so beautiful and colorful that they only could describe him, or rather it, as a flame. But his turn to rule all of Creation was not to last.

The One True God forged the universe with “Infinite Creativity”, a force which shaped the void into the universe and all that lied within it. From this he shaped not just the land, realms and dimensions but also the descendant races— who grew to envy the One True God’s Infinite Creativity. As stated above, the descendants took it upon themselves to take Infinite Creativity from the One True God, but their dominance was short lived and the God was shattered into pieces, the Aengudaemons, and the Mathic Cycle did begin.

Being as they were distinctly different parts of the creator, the Aenguls and Daemons formed a divide. It was the Aenguls who believed the Mortals could be trusted, through the cycles, to restore the One True God, and thus by simply letting the cycles play out they would re-unite once more. The Daemons on the other hand believed the Mortals were inherently selfish and sought to use their power to force the Mortals to release the Aenguldaemons from the Mathic Cycle. It is this conflict which is played over and over again in the First Mathic Age. It is not a struggle between Good and Evil but rather a struggle between those who wish to compel the return of the One True God, and those who with each memory wipe and return of the cycle— wish to permit the mortals to bring his return themselves. Notably Aengul and Daemon defines their position in the Wars with Iblees, and that their position may change through the Cycles. Metzili, for example, is noted for her support of Iblees before the war, making her a Daemon, and her subsequent relenting status to the position of Aenguls after the war— this is a noted trend which occurs in every cycle.

Aenguldaemonic Manifestation and Acts~

*Each of the elements of the One True God is imperfect— for any division of that which is perfect is by definition, imperfect. For perfection only finds one form in the One True God. Thus, the powers of Aenguldaemons are limited for they, like the One True God, are not made of Void, but rather exist inexplicably somewhat outside of creation.

Aenguldamons have limited power. It is thus they are incapable of some feats, such as disconnecting their own servants without the acts of one of their other servants. Furthermore, they are limited in manifestation. They, unlike the One True God, are not capable of true “Creation”. It is only the One True God who could irreversibly turn Void into Creation, and thus their creations— however long lived, are not immortal as they are. In the same way, for they exist out of creation and can not truly create, they may not truly manifest within creation in their Godly form. Rather, they must force themselves into the realm proper, weakening their connection to the power which fueled the One True God. As a consequence an Aenguldaemon which manifests is weaker and may be killed— banishing it from the Mathic Cycle until the beginning of the next one. It is thus Manifestation proper is rare and Aenguldaemons prefer to act through Servants.

Aenguldaemons are not merely limited in their inability to truly exist within our realm. They are also limited in power— forced to act only when they deem it so necessary for their power, while it varies between Aenguldaemons, is fundamentally limited and recharges slowly. As a consequence an Aenguldaemon itself may find itself weakened by particularly grandiose acts of influencing the world. One such act would be the act of tearing a portal between the mortal realms.

Notably Manifestation allows much more efficient use of power. Thereby Manifestation is not only a risk, but also a boon. This is why when Aeriel and Iblees clashed, both risked wounds incurred as a result of manifestation for more power in their conflict.

The Seventh Mathic Cycle~

*This is the cycle in which our existence is currently a part of. Cycles past are unknown as well as cycles future— for with each turn of the cycle that of the past is lost for all, except for the keeper of the cycle— Gazardiel, who remembers but the previous cycle alone.

The Great War with Iblees was remarkable, not merely for the Denizens of Aegis, but more importantly for the entirety of existence as a whole. This Mathic Cycle had begun as all others had, with the end of the First Age and the passing of the First Age into the Second. With the Aenguldaemons, the very constituent parts of God free to enact their will upon the realm the war of Iblees would begin, as it had done in previous cycles. However, this war was not to be as other wars in the past. Urir Ire’heart was to be the Harbinger of the Second Age, the one who would defeat Iblees as had been done in all previous cycles— though the defeat of Iblees was not what it seemed. Iblees was as stated previously, the element of God which wished to restore God through subjugation of the Mortals, whereas Aeriel and the other Aenguldaemons prefered kindness— hoping that one day upon the dawn of the cycle’s turn, the mortals would make the right choice and choose to restore God, and not keep Infinite Creativity for themselves. As a consequence Iblees stole the Nexus, that which permits the Aenguldaemons to remain bound to this world and free of their beacons remained undestroyed as the descendants fled from their first land of Supra-Aegis— something that had never occurred in previous cycles. You see, the First and Second age pass in Aos and the Third in Eos in the Cycle, but the second never came to a close.

Aeriel and Iblees

Aeriel and Iblees are the two most powerful pieces of God. Aeriel embodies the mercy of the God, which forgives the mortals for killing him and wants to help them. Iblees is the wrath of the God, casting hellfire and judgement on the mortals who dared to betray him and kill him. But both have the same goal: uniting the beacons. Aeriel believes that the mortals should be guided, and that guidance shall lead them to the choice of uniting the beacons and resurrecting God. Iblees believes that the mortals will never choose that on their own and so must be subjugated and forced to give up power. In an ironic way he is correct - in all the previous iterations, the mortals have never decided to give up power.

Gazardiael

Gazardiael is different from the other Immortals. He is tasked with overseeing the beginning of the Cycle in the correct manner, and each time must sacrifice himself to start the Third Mathic Age. Other Immortals who die during a Cycle are regenerated when the next Cycle begins, but not so Gazardiael. For this reason, he must choose an Inheritor, someone to gift his memories to and become the next Aengul of New Beginnings when the next Cycle begins. Gazardiael retains all the memories of his predecessors, and always despite their sacrifices the mortals chose to keep the power. For this reason Gazardiael is pessimistic about this batch of mortals.

Distressed with Urir’s failing, Gazardiel set out upon his task to bring the cycle back into alignment.  But the power of the Nexus was beyond his reach, for Iblees had committed great parts of his power to lock Gazardiel and the other Aenguldaemons out, and so it seemed the Cycle’s continuance was thwarted. During the great clash between Aeriel and Iblees, Gazardiel bound the pair to the Seal of Khorvad, leaving him as the sole Arch-Aenguldaemonic power active within the realm. It was his hope that by binding each of the minor Aenguldaemons in ways similar to Aeriel and Iblees, that the third age would come without the Nexus, and that the mortals would find a way to continue the cycle. However, Gazardiel’s efforts were not totally effective. Within the realm of Asulon some Aenguldaemons remained active— the aspects and Tahariae simply to name a few. In essence, Gazardiel’s quest to restore the cycle was in vain and weakened by his efforts to keep Aeriel and Iblees trapped he made his escape, for a time, devoting his energy to corroding the seal to the Nether as the other Aenguldaemons free themselves from his shackles— hoping another mortal would eventually become his instrument to be the Harbinger of the Third Age.

The Progression of Our Cycle~

*The Cycle has been corrupted, however it must continue to march on— for this is the duty of the keeper of the Cycle, Gazardiel.

The Close of the First Age

Gazardiel’s efforts to weaken the seal to the Nether will not be in vain and his efforts will reveal a ***** in the armour of the Nether. From here he shall send messages to the mortals, selecting those he deems worthy and sending them forth into the Nether a second time to complete the task that Urir Ireheart failed as so very many years ago— the destruction of the Nexus. And this time, with luck, they shall prevail. With this the Aenguldaemons shall be bound away and Gazardiel shall sacrifice himself for the power required to destroy the Nexus, bringing on a new caretaker of the Cycle.

Aruzond

Gazardiael chose Aruzond long ago, and revealed to him the nature of the Mathic Ages. Gazardiael retains all the memories of his predecessors, and always despite their sacrifices the mortals chose to keep the power. For this reason Gazardiael is pessimistic about this batch of mortals, while Aruzond, not having these memories yet, has passionate optimism that they shall make the right choice.

In the Opening Event, Gazardiael appears as tall, golden and glorious while Aruzond retains his old, grey robed man form. Gazardiael chooses to appear in such a way since he knows that the mortals shall not heed his words as much if he were to appear as Aruzond does, an old man. And so Gazardiael shows himself as great and noble, while in many ways he loathes the mortals - yet he is willing to give up his existence and face oblivion to give them a chance. This is the meaning of the nod he gives to Aruzond before he kills himself: "It is your turn now. I expect you shall be disappointed as I was."

The Dawn and Close of the Second Age

In an instant Aenguldaemonic powers shall vanish from this world. Aspects shall no longer permit druids to whisper to plants. Xan shall no longer power the Paladins. Aeriel shall vanish into nothingness once more. This is how Asulon was meant to be— indeed, it will be much like Asulon for a time, given the complete absence of Aenguldaemons. However, this cycle is one which bears no resemblance to Cycles past. When Urir did throw the Cycle off long ago his act did have ripples, for this age shall too be irregular— notably short. Within but two short years the descendants shall discover the beacons and learn to activate them, binding the Aenguldaemons to their will and pushing the Mathic Cycle swiftly into its third age. The reason for this short Second Age is simple— the Descendants have already made their way back to Supra-Aegis, finding themselves in Aos where the majority of the beacons have their home. In previous iterations the descendants flee Aos to Eos, finding themselves in the realm where the Aenguldaemons did not fight their most recent war against Iblees— making the beacons themselves impossible to find.

The Dawn of the Third Age

Aenguldaemons shall be freed from their beacons by servants wishing to restore their might to the world. It is worth noting that each beacon is activated individually, meaning we shall be able to bestow groups different Aenguldaemons to choose to free. Obviously, Aenguldaemons of specific magic groups will be the first to be freed. However, the Descendants will be given a choice to free other Aenguldaemons such as Gazardiel, Iblees, Aeriel and so on. Perhaps we shall give the Beacon of Iblees to the Orcs (historical suitability) to protect from activation. Nevertheless, the Third Age shall continue under the direction of the Descendants. Notably Azurond was not informed of the true progression of the Cycle by Gazardiel and so he shall merely shepard it, unable to change it for he is only aware of what shall happen— not how or why.

The Dawn of the Fourth Age

Eventually the descendants, in particular one revolutionary scholar, shall learn to turn the beacons on and off. Thus heralding the start of the Fourth age where mortals rule the Immortals. Our recount of the 7th Mathic Cycle shall end here, to be picked up when so this point is reached.
