whiteferrarii 123 Share Posted March 5, 2017 The swollen seas churned and moaned beneath the hull of a dark, lean dromond. The ship cut through the black and pushed itself over threatening waves with ease, an inevitable force that continued to conquer and overcome. The skies grew heavy and pale sheets fell. A small child whimpered in one of the cabins below. A woman wailed. The crew men cursed and roared, though their voices resonated dismal compared to the thunderous booms and crashes of the sea and sky. A tall, languid youth strode along the decks of his masterful ship, his auburn hair twisted into braids and lashing against his face most vehemently. He kept his hands balanced upon the nearest masts and side railings, and his face grew red with effort as he shouted commands and did his best to stay upright in the storm. He shoved a boot into the wood and pressed himself through a mass of bearded seamen, barreling into the captain’s cabin. Viktor Alric Ruthern steadied himself upon one of the paneled walls and slid out a damp letter from within a wooden box. He read it quickly, not wanting to waste any valuable time on some cursive words when the war of nature raged on about him. Yet these words were significant. They seemed to make the hastiness of the sea and the roars of the men inaudible, and his mind went vacant. The count is dead. My brother is dead. He thought as a soft sigh escaped from between his lips. He had been informed by his brother Boris’s childhood love, Annebelle Farsight. His memories of their times together hunting bears, climbing walls and interacting with the other youths of Haense made his lips curve upward into a sad smile. He recalled the illustrative joy and compassion on his brother’s face when he was around the girl he adored, and the fire in his eyes when someone threatened his family. Yet the memories of his brother’s fury and suspicion made the breath get caught in his throat. He is gone. Viktor found his eyes strangely become wet with tears. “Captain!” A shipwright threw himself into the cabin with his eyes wide, water gushing down his face. “Captain-.” Viktor let the letter fall from between his fingers and he bowed his head. He marched forward, acknowledging the shrewder man with a clap on the back. His words would have to wait. Swinging himself up upon a barrel that was strapped down beside the main mast, Viktor raised his voice and shouted over the commotion. “The count is dead! GOD bless my brother, and let him rest peacefully above!” He paused, and watched as the seamen murmured their respects. “My brother has died yet Ruthern will live on! Steer toward the Voron coast, my lads, we will push our way onto Metterden! A war may have been ignitied, and we will fight ‘till the soil is red and our sword arms are heavy! By bones and barrows, ave!” As sails were pulled and men steered onto another course, a familiar call threw up upon the decks of the Aeldinic Aengul. "Ave Ruthern!" The fifth count of Metterden was on the voyage home.

Legoboy7984 3155 Share Posted March 5, 2017 As Markus Lothston trains some of the Ruthern men, Annabelle tells Markus of the letter she had sent to Viktor, as Markus begins to chuckle with a sigh "I feel some family conflict coming along with the upcoming Count of our wonderful County. By Bones and Barrows then."
