The Heresy of Dyeing One’s Beard

 

 

As all pious Dwedmar are aware, the beard is the ultimate gift bestowed upon all dwarves, a symbol of majesty and honor, the mark of Yemekar’s chosen race. Any who can grow a beard are blessed, and as a sign of religious fervor all male Dwarves (and even some lasses too) grow their beards and groom them as a badge of their favor with the gods. To have one’s beard damaged is the most heinous crime that can be committed against a Dwarf, and gods forbid, to mutilate it by your own accord…. May Dungrimm have mercy on your soul!

 

So why then, are lads and lasses so prone to cause heinous self harm to their beards daily? There is a widespread practice among some ignoble Dwarven clans to engage in the act of self-mutilation by dyeing their beards. Is it not profane to have one’s beard damaged? Do we not clean our glorious marks of favor daily, clearing out every speck of dirt and refuse in the meticulous nature of serving the gods as if our very souls relied on it? Is not the barber the cornerstone of Dwarven religious life, whose careful and sacred hands are the only allowed to touch our beards without the purpose of everyday cleaning?

 

So why then, do we allow amateur, un-pious dwarves to sully our honor and pride by dyeing our beards? Anbella gifted you your beard in it’s purest, most powerful form. To spurn that gift by engaging in the disgusting act of “beard-dyeing” is nothing short of heresy! Why not just roll your beard through pig’s excrement! That would change it’s color! To artificially distort one’s beard for any reason, is a low and evil act that only those as immoral and treacherous as the Oathcast would ever engage in.

 

To any poor souls who have already engaged in this act, I implore you to repent! The gods understand that if you could not possibly have known what you were doing was evil, you do not deserve punishment. However, if you continue this unrighteous act of heresy after being informed, you will be damned to Khorvad’s servitude for all of eternity
