The Guard of Keintania

History

The Guard of Keintania is the main military force to defend the Barony of Keintania and the Fortress of Keintania as well. The Guard of Keintania was formed by Lord Thomas Tarsington-Keint, Baron of Keintania in the year 1626. The Guard serve the House of Keint who are the vassals of the County of Hallowfell and the Kingdom of Santegia

 

The Chain of Command

 

Lord/Steward

The Lord and Steward of Keintania are the supreme commanders of the Guard. The Lord and steward have the final say in all military matters. Even though they are the leaders of the military they leave the more trivial affairs to the Marshal of the Guard but can intervene in any matters they chose and their word is always final.

 

Marshal of the Guard

The Marshal of the Guard is second in command to the Lord and the Steward. The Marshal along with military power has political power as well, such as if the steward and lord are not available the Marshal would take control of the lands until the return of the lord or steward. The Marshal of the guard only answers to the Lord and Steward.

 

Commander of the Guard

The Commander of the guard is one of the highest authority ranks you can get in The Guard of Keintania. The Commander is one of the main overseers of the military, its progress and it's overall military planning. The Commanders would oversee the training new recruits and assign the troops their duties. They are often tasked with leading a small group of troops to outflank the enemy in a battle. The Commander only answers to the Lord/Steward along with the Marshal.

 

Captain

The rank of Captain commands respect and unwavering obedience of their troops. They are headstrong leaders who are expected to inspire the soldiers they lead and encourage the officers and soldiers underneath them to greater feats of bravery. The duties of the captain's include leading some troops, recruiting and training the troops and overseeing disciplinary actions. The captain's also serve as advisors to the Lord/Steward, Marshal and Commanders of the guard.

 

Lieutenant

The lieutenant is an officer who have proven themselves time and time again on the field of battle. Lieutenants can command small detachments of soldiers and are also responsible for helping the Captain with training the soldiers and the new recruits.

 

Man at Arms

The Man at Arms is often regarded as the more skilled and gifted counterparts of the footmen. These men have a service of considerable length under the Lord/Steward which is usually rewarded with a respectable rank.

 

Footmen

These men are the backbone of the The Guard of Keintania and have been tested as able-bodied and loyal men that serve the Barony well.

 

Recruits

The beginners rank of The Guard. This rank is given to the new untrained recruits who have joined the guard. As a new recruit they will receive little pay until they have been promoted where they will start to earn more money.

 

Pay

Pay is awarded on the amount of effort the members of The Guard put in regardless of the rank of title the person has.

 

 

The Guard's Oath

The Guard's Oath is taken by the new recruit upon joining.

 

"I ______, solemnly swear to serve The Baron of Keintania, and the Kingdom of Santegia. In war I swear to bring you victory. In life i swear to protect all the citizens of Keintania and Santegia. In death, i shall give my life to you and die honourably to protect you and those you rule. My life and sword are yours until you release me, or till death takes me."
