The Visaj Defection

The words of Maheral Cenwall Maeyr’onn after the defeat against Prince Kairn of Leyulin had reached Haelun’or’s citizens, even the ones not present at the time of the assault. Odessa Visaj, who had been taking cover in the comfort of her tower, roams Haelun’or in the night after the chaotic battle slowly came to an halt, the flames of the Alchemists fading away into darkness. On a few chosen spots she attaches the letter, but a few copies are also dropped off in mailboxes spread around the city, written on fine paper, using small fine nails of silver. The letter is marked with the emblem of the Visaj family, a harp. Even if taken down, the nails would leave noticeable damage in the wood. As the sun rises, Odessa Visaj is nowhere to be found, her defection is successful.

Blessed Mali’thill,

The bronze-touched outlash in attempt to suppress our grand superiority has shaken our blessed Silver Cihi to it’s core. The stench of burned Mali’aheral skin is one we can never be allowed to forget. The Silver Council and the Maheral are taking us in a course that is a threat to our race’s survival.

Let us be reminded, this is not the first time there has been an assault on our sovereignty. Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya puts fear and envy into the fragile souls of our enemies, the lessers. It must be highly provoking, knowing and seeing your inferiority, like a splinter in their finger. The attack is therefore understandable, even if it is not forgivable.

The ultimate treachery in this great ordeal is not the one of the lessers. It is the treachery of the Silver Council and our Maheral.

The Silver Council acts like a royal Valah court, not one following the principles of Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya. For we believe in peace, and prosperity through peace. They provoke great disharmony and aggression in our relations with lessers, seeking to make enemies, not allies who are supportive of our principles. We need scientific progress and absolute purity, not war in other parts of the realm.

Blessed Mali’thill,

Order and peace will have to be restored again. Refuse the Silver Council’s call for war. Let the banging on the drums of war echo without answer through your halls. Leave your weapons of steel at home and wait for the rebuilding of a State of the purest of Silvers in another era.

Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya,

High Standards lead to Absolute Purity.

Cinh taps the shoulder of Odessa lightly, saying to her, "What made you think the council ordered war? I think you need to pay a bit closer attention. Perhaps some gossip got you confused. If there was a call to war, there would have been an announcement. Anyhow, have a nice day." The tall innkeep plops a plate with a slice of black forest cake on it into the elfess' hands.

Varen’thal Len’irrin fixes his gloves,”We are going to war, if I have a say at least. Kairn quite literally hung bodies on his walls of ‘Thill. Do not run from the truth. War is neccassary at times. Maehrs Hiylun’ehya.”

Cinh plops some cake into his brother's hands too, giving him a little gentle smack on the head, "Stop being violent. It's impure. Karin's mean, but you guys are the ones that laid the trap for him based off false information."

Varen’thal mutters something about the last person that slapped him, walking away.

For the first time in about a week Athedil made his way down from the winery, after finding the letter in his mailbox. He made his way to the city square, in the hopes of finding a crowd that would listen.

“Tragedy has struck our city, lessers invaded and dealt a blow to our people. When life returned to Haelun’or, we wished for changed times, a step back towards the times of Asulon and the view on maehr’sae hiylun’ehya that lead our people to greatness. We wished to be able to live side by side with lessers, to interact with them for the betterment of all.
But it seems times are hard to change, even for those who wished to see it happen. In the time since Haelun’or’s revival, we have killed mali’thill in pits of acid, a crime never before committed by our council. We have named lessers who openly mocked purity to the position of tilruir, allowing them to taint our city from within. We have invited the chaos of those below us into the city, but taking part in their schemes and provoking them to attack. This is not our way, the lessers have shown time and time again that all but a few of them are unfit to be in our presence, they should be left to themselves to rot in the chaos of their own making. Let Haelun'or stand above the chaos, as the enduring bastion of science, order and purity it was always meant to be. Let the chaos of the lessers be their own, within our walls of silver only maehr'sae hiylun'ehya should reign, this was the wish of Larihei.

“Is it not a little pretentious to call yourself the former dean of a college that you did not organize a single lecture for?” The Okarir’Thilln would ask aloud.
