Piov 2643 Share Posted December 21, 2017 The Synod of 1643 The 7th of the First Seed, 1643 Vice Chancellor Jack of Mardon stands to address an audience of those gathered outside of the Cathedral. “Brethren in GOD: It is with great grief and mourning we announce the death of His Late Holiness, Everard IV, who by the Grace of GOD, now rests with Him in the Seven Skies. Befitting to our duties, the Church must move forward to replace a man of such grandeur and pursuant to Apostolic succession in order to carry on sacred tradition for the life of the Church. In so doing, I hereby summon the bishops of the Synod to Marna to proceed with the conclave as per usual to select the next beholder of the Laurel of the Exalted and the office of the Vicar of GOD.” As the crowd dissipated, the bishops entered the cathedral in procession of chants and supplications to the saints and the Exalted as they prepared to begin the round of voting for the next High Pontiff of the Holy Canonist Church. The following electors shall cast their votes: -Archbishop Jack of Mardon [Bromadan] -Patriarch Vladimir “the Golden Hand” [FitzRoy__] -Archbishop Nathanael of Aeston [sandey0000] -Archbishop Bernard Solomon [_octofishie_] -Bishop Robert Rovin [Uncle_Fatty] Only and limiting the aforementioned individuals may post on this thread. bromadan 368 Share Posted December 21, 2017 Jack sat in silence for sometime, taking time to control his breathing before standing up to look upon the faces of the Synod. “Brothers.. I stand here today because GOD guided me to his Holiness one faithful day. I was a boy of Fourteen and had no place in the world. I had fought in a single battle and was spared Death. I taveled throughout Mardon and I happened to stumble upon his Holiness, and he took me in. He gave me some food and we spoke at length about GOD. It was that day I gave my life to GOD and his Church. For twenty one years I have served faithfully, and have been ARchbishop of Adelburg for most of my time as a Priest.” Jack chuckled a moment, thinking back on it. “I served the People of the old Empire well. I spoke to the Nobles and Commoners, to soldiers to farmers, to Soldiers to Heathens. I made strides to bring people to the light of GOD and have been overall rather successful. Bring countless members into the Church’s ranks from Priests, Monks, and Nuns. This past decade or so I served as Vice Chancellor of Holy Mother Church and helped organize and deal wth issues regarding the Church. I held meetings with other parties and Faiths in the name of the Church. I made strides for the Church to be recognized in other places of the world, in other Kingdoms and Nations. His Holiness and I had many talks at night, about the world and GOD. What is occurring and present circumstances. I stand before you all and I must admit.. I am terrified. The mere idea of being elected terrifies all. It is not a position one desires or should covet. It is a position that GOD calls us too. We are sworn to let GOD guide our hands to write down a name. So we shall do. I tell you know before GOD almighty and my peers here, if I was called to his position I would continue on the work of His Holiness Everard. I will reorganize the Clergy to make sure all are able to hear the word of GOD, from here in Marna to every dark corner of this new land. To protect the Church and defend its institutions from harm from those that seek to tear us down stone by stone. But also keep my arms open to embrace those that seek the Light of GOD. For if we meet with just the sword then we harm more than we save. We shall hold the sword and yet the olive branch. Mercy and Love. Faith and Order is what I promise to you.. May GOD grant me the strength if he so calls me.” And with that, Jack signed the cross before him and took a sheet of paper, writing a name upon it and muttered a silent prayer to himself before dropping the note into the box. Endovelicus 614 Share Posted December 21, 2017 The old Schema has just completed the Panikhida for His Holiness' life within the small Ruskan chapel he and his few monks had built within the wilderness to be at one with Godan and all His servants. Vladimir was old, too old, and he dreaded the thought of having to travel to the Synod, but he was nothing if not a man who understood his duty, before GOD and all other men who follow the divine teachings of the Exalted. He left his Skete with Brother Berdiyeslev, but his weathered bones could not support him for any longer, the man of 101 summers fell to the ground whilst on the road, he became unable to move his feet again. Vladimir and Berdiyeslev stayed upon the road, sitting and waiting for any merciful man to take them, and Godan was good. A merchant from Hanseti-Ruska came, seeing the two clergyman as a sign of good luck took them in and allowed them to travel with him to Marna, it seemed that the synod had attracted many merchantmen. Vladimir's health only deteriorated from the jorney, whatever bone which broke when he fell causing him much pain, and the cold weather of the First Seed did not help. When they arrived in Marna the Hiero-Schema could barely speak, besides to a few birds he encountered on the road (which he claimed were agents of Bogdan), he did not say a word. A physician within the Apostolic Kingdom lent them a wooden wheelchair and Berdiyeslev carried him through the hills of the city unto the great Adamantine Cathedral, still under construction. "Godani jest wielki." The duo muttered, crossing themselves as Berdiyeslev wheeled the man in. "Yam hear trumpets calling!" The delirious old man shouted as he entered, Berdiyeslev could do nothing but grimace. "Yam see Godani and all Saints, da, da, yam will see old Everard again! And Yaroslav! And Nikolas! Ah!" Vladimir rambled as the wheels of the contraption creaked. The Acolytes and Priests in attendence looked bewildered, thinking that Vladimir was some unwashed forest mystic, they weren't woefully incorrect. "Yam vote, da, da so yam can go up!" Vladimir laughed cheerfully as an acolyte handed him a small piece of paper, some ink and a quill, he paused. His gaze traveled through the other pentarchs, his delirious visage turning into something of a calm and reserved politician as he wrote a name and placed it on the urn, muttering a brief prayer. Soon after that he became delirious again, supposedly seeing the Skies, hearing the chants of the Saints and Martyrs, seeing the Aenguls and Daemons serving Godan, seeing the Exalted within the Sixth skie, clearly he'd gone mad by now. Brother Berdiyeslev decided it best to wheel him out of the cathedral, to some inn so he could rest. Shortly after that, in the cold night whilst the other bickered on who should sit on the Exalted Throne, the man who saw and lived through the reign of 12 Pontiffs, had been a Vice-Chancellor, Archbishop, Bishop and Abbot died with a smile on his face at the age of 101. Zhulik 3559 Share Posted December 21, 2017 Brother "BOB", titular Bishop and Grand Prior of the Order of Saint Lucien, sat as he listened to his peers. His belly bulged quite significantly, freshly refueled from an entire vat of boiled oats. As the others whittled down into silence, he spoke simply, and bluntly."Brothers, my vote will not matter in the grand scheme of the natural order for I believe you all to have already made up your minds. Thus, I believe it is of the up most importance to issue a warning, rather than a speech seeking power or the blessing of our Beloved Everard. In this new world, tensions among the many will be high. The sons of Horen, including those not of Horen blood, will seek to reunify humanity in some capacity. They will do this through conquest, diplomacy, and varying forms of malice and deceit. Others, will attempt to defend their sovereignty with their blood boiling, leading to an inter human conflict. The sons of Urguan will seek vengeance and the thinly veiled philosophy of Yemekar's balance, and will likely try in any capacity to increase their own strength to offset the power structure of those of Canonist faith, which could include war or assassinations. The sons of Krug, naturally, will likely continue as they are. Honor bound yet thirstful for combat. I would not be surprised if those with green flesh are spotted upon the roads hunting and enslaving others, as has been seen historically. Lastly, the daughters of Malin have already become degenerated in every single capacity. Multi-colored eyes, fangs and webbed feet grow upon them. Their society to this day remains split, and the eternal elf continues to squirm about looking to circumvent the glory of GOD. I bring this to your attention not as a rant, but as a statement of fact. The Faith cannot stand idly by in the coming conflicts. We sit on the reaped benefits and glory of the Third Crusade, yet the crusade is not over. We mustn't become slothful while we develop; instead, it is more important than ever to keep pressure applied to the heathens. Whoever the new Pontiff may be, it would be greatly wise to follow the principles which I shall now state. Do not tolerate the use of Magic in any capacity. It displays the sin of pride in all regards. Do not tolerate the Ascended. They worship a false Diety. Do not sit idly by when heathens assault Canonists. We've a responsibility protect the faithful, and a faith militant to act as their shield. Focus upon humanity. We cannot hope to spread the word of GOD across the world if our core is not solid. Realize that it is better to lose control over a secular state's faith, akin to Santegia, than to sit idly by and allow the Canonist doctrine to be undermined. The faith in this fractured world requires strength and solidarity, not priests in Ivory Towers. I thank thee for listening."Brother "BOB" then returned onto his rear, his legs aching from having to stand more than four minutes at a time.
Piov 2643 Author Share Posted December 21, 2017 The Canonist curate took the ballots from the altar, muttering a prayer: "May the Seven Skies in all their blessings and intercession inspire the Church to select a man befitting for the Holy Laurel of the Exalted. Amen." The votes have been accounted as follows: "...Jack of Mardon" "...Jack of Mardon" "...Jack of Mardon" "...Jack of Mardon" Your Excellencies, the ballots appear to be real and authentic wherein Archbishop Jack of Mardon has received the majority of the Synod. Godspeed to His Holiness-Elect!
