PREAMBLE, OF THE PUBLICATION

At the request of His Majesty, and by the good graces of the Offices of the Lord Magnate, we recognise that, to bring about a uncorrupt and fair governance for the people of Marna, we must purge fraud, putrescence, and bribery from our fair lands.


OF THE DEFINITIONS OF BRIBERY

  1. Bribery is the act of offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting any form of item of value to influence the conduct of an individual or organisation.

  2. The person bribing must have the intentions to obtain or retain business contracts, or an advantage in the conduct of business, or the intentions to influence conduct of a public official. A person who bribes a public official is guilty of an offence in the eyes of the Law.

  3. A public official is defined as somebody who,

    1. Holds an administrative, legislative or judicial position in the Kingdom of Marna;

    2. Exercises a public role on behalf of Marna or a foreign nation.

  4. On the contrary, therefore, any public official meddling in the act of bribery is guilty of an offence.

  5. A commercial organisation is guilty of an offence if a person associated with the accused willingly intends to retain business contracts, or an advantage in the conduct of business.

OF PENALTIES

  1. Bribery will be sentenced in varying regards,

  2. Bribery of a public official or from a public official will result in a severe punishment; that being, in extreme cases, execution or civil forfeiture;

  3. Corporate bribery will result in moderate punishment; that being imprisonment or civil forfeiture;

  4. Personal bribery will result in mild punishment; that being a hefty fine to be paid to the state.
