The Clashing festival

In character announcement: Everyone! I have an announcement! I wish to hold a tournament for everyone to enjoy regardless of race, people, background, and so forth! We shall compete fairly and to the victors shall come prestigious titles, glory, honor, pride, and respect! I inspire you to come and compete to try and earn your spot as the very best! To those who do not wish to fight there shall be a performers competition.

Any and all merchants looking to sell their craft, sell food and drinks, or anything else along those lines are welcomed as well!

Come with your friends and family, make new friends and then stab them.  You will however need to bring your own tents and pavilions! -Denzell L'araignee

Location: The location of the festival shall be west of the cloud temple. Continue moving west from the cloud temple soul pillar until you see a large red and white pavilion. Once you see the pavilion you're in the right place. ((Cords x -90 z-161))

Time: 6:30 pm EST 5/11/18 ((Friday May 11th))

Events: The events that shall be and in this order, Sword combat, Archery, jousting, performing.

Swordplay

Sword combat will start off with team battles. Teams of 6 shall face each other until there is a clear winner. Then the next teams shall continue and so forth until there is one winner. This team gains no special title but make take pride and honor in their combat ability. Only melee weapons are allowed, no ranged attacks.

After the team battles we shall move onto singular battles. These will be best of three rounds between 2 fighters. This will continue until there is a clear winner. The winner shall win the title of "Grand tournament knight" as and they can carry that title with pride as they bring honor to their family, their state, and noble house if they serve or are apart of one.

Skirmishing in the fighting pit is allowed before the tournaments start but once the tournaments start you will have to clear out of the fighting pit to allow for the other fighters to compete. After all tournaments are over, and yes this includes jousting and bardic, then you may continue to practice and skirmish in the fighting pit until the festival ends.

If you want to do roleplay combat that can be done the following day.

Archery

Archery will consist of targets that will be moved back spanning as far as 100 meters away. Each archer gets 1 attempt at each range. Each range will reward more and more points as they get further and further away. Whoever has the most points wins the title of "Grand tournament archer" Shoulder there be any ties the archers shall instead duel each other in the fighting pit to see who has the greater ranged combat ability!

Carry this title with pride and bring honor to your family, your state, or your noble house should you be apart of one in any way.

Jousting

Jousting will consist of singular mounted and armored riders, these riders will charge at each other with lances attempt to knock the other person off their mount. Each pair will get 5 rounds. The winner of this event shall earn the title "Grand tournament jouster" You do however need to bring your own jousting equipment! this includes your own horse!

Rules of jousting and how to play for those new to the sport

  1. Your lance must be 10 feet long and made out of wood. The kind of wood does not matter. The lance may not have a sharpened tip and must be rounded.
  2. The shield the lancer uses must have at least 300 in2 area space to give the opponent a fair target. Material of shield does not matter.
  3. You must be wearing at lest a helmet, breastplate, and arm protection. Low body armor is not required but is recommended.
  4. You gain +1 point if you touch the other jousters shield.
  5. You gain +5 points for breaking the other jousters lance, but the game still continues unless they run out of lances.
  6. You gain +10 points for knocking off the other rider. This does not end the game though, you continue until someone is injured, all the other players lances are broken, or until you finish all 5 rounds.

Bardic:

Bardic shall be a competition between performers. As long as your act is safe you may bring it here to share with others be it juggling, singing, dancing, fire eating, or all four at the same thing we would love to see you perform after a long hard day of fighting!

People will then vote on their favorite performer who shall earn the title "Grand tournament bard!" This title is changeable depending on the specific performance of the performer.

OOC Rules:

In order to keep things organized and non-chaotic please write a post stating which of the tournaments you want to participate in if it's one more multiple. Write an in character letter in the comments addressed to Denzell L'araignee (IGN ErwinScoutSmith) The letter must contain: Character name (IGN name also), Character age, what you want to compete in. You however do not need a reason to compete.

When you're talking to people people do it in either /quiet or /whisper if there are a lot of people roleplaying in one area it might get a bit crazy and hard to keep up with. Unless you're character is actually shouting or cheering please try and be courteous of people.

If you want to set up a tent please try to keep it to a reasonable size. 2 people don't need a pavilion that'll fit 10 men. If you do have a large group of people do build a large tent/pavilion.

Use common sense and basic roleplay etiquette

IC Rules:

You must send a letter in order to compete.

While you are here you shall not mock people based on race, religion, family, or anything along those lines. You may go back to hating each other after the festival. Try to enjoy yourselves.

No stealing.

No purposely harming others. Should someone get injured on accident or while competing this will be overlooked.

Bring your own weapons and armor! Arrows can be provided for the archery rounds though! Horses also shall not be provided.

Shops and markets are allowed just don't be annoying.

OOC note:

I have no idea how long this will last and it might last for a few days. Should it not be finished in a day continue roleplay as normal and the festival shall continue after the siege/war claim that starts at 3 EST once this is over the festival roleplay will continue as normal so no one has to miss it.

Joining:

As said before im just putting this here so it's hard to miss please comment your:

Character name
IGN
What you wish to compete in

This must come in the form of a letter to Denzell L'araignee (ErwinScoutSmith) how you get this letter out does not matter.
