ON EMPEROR'S ORDERS: FORTHWARD THE STALLION'S BANNER

 

The sun was setting deep reds over a summer’s sky as the last of Hughes’ cohort entered Belcrest’s ruins. As the night grew, lights shone from the once decrepit town with cries of Illatian jest and drunken Lotharingians. However, their Lord Margrave was elsewhere.

 

Hughes had remembered the day he first laid eyes on the Emperor. Atop his throne with light bathing his retinue behind, it seemed Hughes swore fealty more to a God than a Man. Yet, in this small room, he stood level with the Emperor of Humanity. The plainness unnerved him even more.

 

It was only a simple exchange before Hughes left Carolustadt, carrying precious orders from the Imperium.  Subjugation, vassalization, and the incorporation of territories lost to the Empire of Man were beset to the stallions of Lorraine. Failure was not an option. They would not return again to Carolustadt without success to propose the Divine Majesty. And so, the banners were called.

 

The letters sent to the marked settlements and structures were thus,
