THE DECLARATION OF A REGENT

Issued and Confirmed by Prince Alfred Myre of Ves, 15th of The Amber Cold, 1712

As I lie bedridden by a mysterious illness, I do pen this with a heavy heart. While I have enjoyed a fruitful and glorious time with managing our fair Golden City of Ves, this ghastly sickness that I have been taken by prevents me from continuing to properly fulfill my office.

Therefore, it is such that I appoint EDWARD HENRY MORRIS as my Regent. Upon reflection of the aforementioned Man, it is of which I see a pool of ability and talent. He has managed the Empire of Man under the just Emperor Augustus I of House Horen with grace and composure. He has been by my side now for some years, aiding me in all matters law and administration. He shall rule as I would have, he is charged to be just and righteous. His word shall be like my word, and shall be carried out as if we were of the same voice.

While I lay bedridden I wish to write upon the success, good graces and future of the Golden City of Ves. It is with my belief, that the success of Ves has been created by those who walk the streets every day. To those who are patrons in the Bird and Bard, I commend you. To those who see the fair theatrics of Mister Timothee and the late Timeo de la Baltas, I commend you. While the Institutions of the City are the most just and righteous of its kind, it is on the will and involvement of the citizen that we have come so far. I commend you.

Upon the good graces of Ves. We must remain steadfast in our belief in the Institution that is the Free City of Ves and it’s municipal government. I encourage all those who inhabit the City to take part in it. Further I implore each citizen to attend earnestly and with the utmost sense of duty the civic duties which act as the fundamental building block of the City.

The Future of Ves is bright, for we aspire to be the most prosperous City on this new found land. For we aspire to create a place of true citizen engagement, in which we act just to one another. At no other time in the modern chronicles of history can I account for a City with such vigor and energy to be razed and rebuilt within the year. At no other time can I account for a city which has been inhabited by such true citizens as we have now. We must remain steadfast in our pursuits.

When my illness passes I shall return to you, I shall return a stronger man, in spirit and mind. Until then, may GOD Bless the Regent Edward Henry Morris.

Dutifully Signed,

Alfred Myre, Prince of the Golden City of Ves, Captain and Defender of Liberty

Conrad de Falstaff reads the missive within Leuven, frowning at the news. “Myre was truly a man of the people. I hope he shall soon get well. He is the Prince we need, but sadly, not the one we deserve.”
