*You see a gruff looking dwarf nail a scroll to the wall of Kal'Urguan*

*As you look closer, you see it is covered in dwarven runes with the following message*

Hail to you all my dwarven brothers and sisters.

I am known to some as Gotrek Firemane, Grand Master Smith of Kal'Urguan.

And I have a few question for you...

Have you felt the fire of the forge heating your blood?

Is the sound of a hammer striking an anvil music to your ears?

Do you wish for the power to enforce justice or avenge the wronged?

Then perhaps this message is for you.

In these dangerous times the people of Aegis are surrounded by danger. Undead roam the night, as do bandits and thieves wishing to take what you value most. The Ascended do what they can, but they will not prevail alone.

For that reason I have decided to create a guild that will be founded on the principles I know best.

The Art of the blacksmith

This is my plan for the guild and our goals and responsibilities.

The Dwarven Blacksmith Guild

Our main goal will be the protection of the innocent and the preservation of our dwarven nation. It is my belief that to do this means to forge strong weapons and armor and find even stronger willed folk to wield them. Any dwarf who joins this guild will be responsible for finding ores, forging them, and making sure that there use is in the name of justice. Whether that means using it themselves, equipping the honorable guards and members of the dwarven army, or even venturing out to supply the other nations of Aegis with the means to fight evil. What follows will be the ranks in this guild, and some of the duties they are responsible for.

Grand Master Smith:

Guild Master and overall leader of the Smiths. The direction the guild takes is his decision by order of the king.

High Warsmith:

The lieutenants of the Grandmaster, they are his council, and masters of their craft. They may lead the Smiths into battle if it is appropriate, and they are responsible for repairs that need to be done on the field of battle. They will also excel in combat. One is master of the sword, to teach those who wish to learn the subtly of the blade, one a master of the crossbow, to teach us of far-ranged combat, and one is master of the axe, the most difficult skill to master, but the most powerful. They are also well versed in the aspects of war magic that burns in the blood of all dwarves.

High Craftersmith:

Equal in importance to the High Warsmiths, though they have different responsibilities. Their role is to organize the acquiring of the ores and materials the Smiths rely on. This may include sending other Smiths to distant lands to mine, or even to find shops where a fair price can be found. Though they are relied upon mostly for gathering, they are also responsible for the distribution of the goods we produce. Be that selling armor to worthy allies, or supplying our own stout-hearted army and guards. Regardless, they are smiths themselves and can create strong armor and powerful weapons as well.

Warsmith:

The guards and soldiers of the smith guild, few in number, but potent warriors. They answer to the high masters of the guild, most especially the High Warsmiths. Though they are only recently proven as blacksmiths, they are more than capable fighters and are expected to fight in the name of justice and guard those who need help. If called upon by the Lord Marshall or King, they are expected to obey as if they were members of the army or guard respectively. In the end their loyalty is to the dwarven nation as a whole, followed closely by their vows to their guild. Any Smith may call upon their aid if asked to venture away from the safety of the kingdom, whether it be for the selling or delivery of goods, or the acquisition of more supplies for the guild.

Craftersmith:

Only recently elevated from apprentices, they are on equal footing as the Warsmiths. They are responsible for the gathering of materials necessary for the guild to survive and thrive. The mining or buying of ores, the selling and deliver of arms and armor, it can be argued that without them, the guild would not survive. Nominally under the command of the guild, they also take orders from the High Merchant as well. Theirs is tedious work, but can also be the most rewarding as well. Though they are not expected to fight, if they feel the need to, they are more than willing to be in the front line of any conflict.

Smith Apprentice:

New members of the Guild, they have yet to prove themselves in the eyes of the guild masters. There tasks be many, but they know that the rewards are greater the more hardships they endure. They have yet to pick a path in the guild, but are knowledgeable in most aspects of blacksmithing.

Honored Warsmith/Craftersmith/Apprentice:

Each High Warsmith, High Craftersmith, and even the Grand Master may pick a successor to learn by his side. They are the right hand of the high council and should the dark day ever come that they fall in combat or die of age, their apprentice would assume their title and duties once they have proven themselves.

If you wish to join our fledgling guild, please write a letter with your intent ((post below)) With your name ((mc and rp)), your abilties and skills ((skill levels for blacksmithing etc.)), and your reason ((character reason)) for joining.(( Please DO NOT apply for a certain position, that will be decided in game))

((This is a work in progress and there is still a lot of info about the guild that needs explaining both in character, and out. Constructive input would be appreciated.))
