Inferno_Ougi 1454 Share Posted May 27, 2019 THE CRAVENS RUN 6th of Harren’s Folly, 1717 Hannibal Horen charging his troops against the fleeting Reivers. The stoic men of the Imperium rallied at the gates of Helena, mind focused on the fight to come as they waited with bated breath. The Imperium and the followers of Joey ‘the Pretender’ had garnered their troops and amassed them at their respective capitals, mail-clad legions shivering under the morning sun whilst the sunlight glinted off their spears. The Marnan retinue readied themselves first and set off to hold the fortress at Leuven, knowing they would need a defensive strong-point if they wished to overcome the Renatian legions. Hannibal Horen, a well regarded field-marshal of the Imperium and the legendary general responsible for the current stage of the war oversaw the equipping of his troops before marching them across Romulus’ Crossing. Marching along the road in tandem with their cavalry forces, they paused when greeted by the Marnan troops already positioned defensively on their walls, cowering behind their palisades. Arrows rained down from both sides, yet the numbers on the wall gradually began to thin. At one point a man slipped from their walls, falling and spraining his ankle! As he slowly, desperately hobbled backwards he was slain by a cavalryman. It seemed the Marnan troops were sending their forces to the back gate and ferrying them out at the back. Having discovered this with expert use of scouts, the Imperium’s forces prepared to combat such a flank. Yet, a flank did not come. Instead the Marnan forces bolted from the back gate towards Haense! The Cavalry of the Imperium, commanded by Ser Rodrik, soared down the roads to cut off the fleeing troops, skewering their cavalry and a portion of their footman before they managed to retreat inside the towering walls of Haense, a city known for its cowardice. Once a majority of their forces were in, the steel gates slammed shut, leaving some of their own forces that didn’t make it in time outside. The poor fools fell victim to the sharp steel swords of the Renatian vanguard, with men such as Daniel. “We are done! Retreat in to the city! Do not push out!” ensued Orenian screams of terror from within their walls.
