MissToni 3565 Share Posted June 22, 2019 The Pale Dismay The dead and sick in Cresonia, 5th of The Grand Harvest, 1721 Words echoed out the streets of the city. Whispers and hushed voices ringing in the air as all that could hurried away from the streets. Most keeping inside their homes. A man stepping into the square as he prepared himself to bring the news that they all so awaited to hear. ”I am here to tell you all that we have found the cause of the sudden deaths and illnesses that have just begun. A disease that we have named the Pale Dismay. It causes coughing, swollen throats, difficulties in breathing, high fever and very pale skin. It spreads through contact and thus I ask all of you to keep inside their homes! We have yet a certain count of all those dead and sick yet, but once the sickness has stopped a number shall be given… Stay safe and tread carefully my friends.” The man then hurried away from the streets after having giving his message. A depressing feeling hung around the city. The streets almost seeming abandoned. Though screams of agony and loud coughing could be heard from the clinic where all the sick had been gathered. The names of the dead written down in a list and their bodies burned as their ashes would be put in boxes for the families to burry. Letters carrying warnings of the illness that had come to Cresonia and that the feast had been cancelled were sent out to all kingdoms and nations in Arcas. MissToni 3565 Author Share Posted June 23, 2019 The man would once again return with news for his people regarding the plague. “We have found out that the plague does not spread by contact after all... But by the water one drinks! The ground water has been contaminated, do not drink it unless you have boiled it properly! The royals will give out ale, wine and other drinks from other kingdoms to all of us. So no need to drink the water unless you must!” He would then hurry off as soldiers and maids helped with bringing drinks to the doors of the people in Cresonia and those out on the streets.
