Godric Cardinal Reza speaks to the gathered faithful in Helena:

 

“Dearly beloved, it is with deep sorrow that I am enjoined again to announce the death of the Vicar of GOD. His Holiness Pontian III has been murdered, and grave sin lays upon the hearts of those responsible. I weep for the state of our church and our realm, and pray that GOD welcomes Pontian III happily into the bosom of the Exalted. I pray that in this time of trouble, Horen will give us the mercy to forgive our enemies; Owyn, the righteousness to deliver retribution; Godfrey, the justice to see punishment is meted out fairly; and Sigismund, the wisdom to determine the culprits and restore our Church.

 

The High Pontificate is in a state of sede vacante, and it is my duty to see it filled.”

The Vice-Chancellor sends word to the Synod to convene in Helena. On their arrival, he informs them the entire body of the Church is eligible for election, and commences another prayer.
