Grudgewalkers

 

Dwarves are naturally religious, honorable, and rancorous to those that have wronged them. At times these three core aspects of a dwarf can contradict each other forcing a dwarf into a crisis of personality. One of these crises would be one that occurs when a dwarf has a grudge against an individual or individuals but to fulfill this grudge they would need to put behind (temporarily or permanently) their strict religious and social ethics and conduct. Dwarves that fall under this fate tend to be called Grudgewalkers. Dwarves that have left everything behind in order to be able to fulfill their grudge.

 

[!] After the fall of the First Grandkingdom of Urguan many loyalists became Grudgewalkers, like Charles the Bald the Champion of Urguan.

 

The numbers of Grudgewalkers tend to increase after catastrophic events. The greatest number of Grudgewalkers was during the unstable years. Before the unstable years most Grudgewalkers were interchangeable with orc hunters as many dwarves held grudges against the sons and daughters of Krug.

 

[!]Grudgewalkers tend to only focus on their path of vengeance.

 

A Grudgewalker can be at times confused with a Slayer. However, these two are quite different. Slayers dedicate themselves to the killing of beings to cleanse themselves of sins and dishonorable deeds of the past or to praise the Brathmordakin through their killing. Grudgewalkers however do not dedicate their kills to the Brathmordakin as their killing is only done to satiate the grudge they have. Another difference is that Slayers are Slayers for life and by oath to the Brathmordakin, meanwhile, Grudgewalkers stop being so after they fulfill their grudge. Infact, Grudgewalker is a name given to someone whether they want it or not based on their present action, while Slayers take an active role in taking the name of Slayer.
