Define Meta-gaming in your own words:
Metagaming is when a writer applies knowledge to a character, which has no reason to know said information. In short words, using OOC knowledge and suddenly simply letting your character know it. I, the writer knows that Bob is actually a vampire, but my character has no way of knowing. If my character suddenly knows because I, the writer decide it and not because he has made a discovery regarding it - that is meta-gaming.

 

Define Power-gaming in your own words:

Power-gaming is simply forcing other characters to submit themselves to whatever will your own character has. Such as, 'Bob slamdunks Mary'. This would give the writer of Mary no chance to respond appropriately, and already assumes that Mary has been slamdunk. In order to avoid this, open-ended interactive writing is required. 'Bob steps forth and lunges at Mary, with the intention of slamdunking her'. While power-emotes are usually for 'combat' interactions, they need not be. It is just an example.

 

This does include as well using in-game mechanics which your character isn’t capable of doing, such as casting magic.

Bald, rotund, bearded and pale-skinned. Chunky boy.

 

Personality Traits/Quirks:

Morbidly curious, albeit simple minded. Gluttonous, however straying away from thirst of personal wealth unlike many of his kin.

 

Character Biography:

Alike many proud mountain dwarves, Brynjolfur Stonebrow is a subject of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, of Clan Stonehand. Although no doubt many would have a sense of pride of having humble roots as the son of a barber and brewer, Brynjolfur quickly befell into depths of his own mind.

 

Initially following the footsteps of his father as a brewer within Kal'Varoth and even receiving training within the militia, the mind of the dwarven fellow remains bursting with curiousity regarding the outside world.

 

All up until the point that his father wished to retire and give Brynjolfur his own brewery. Him being the first son, it was a natural choice to have him inherit the base of operations. However the mere push towards responsibility made Brynjolfur act with haste and perhaps even selfishness.

 

Knowing that within his heart he would never be free to wander the world freely, Brynjolfur fled from home and disconnected himself from family and clan. Such an act of foolishness however did have its own consequences. Namely that Haraldr Stonehand father of Brynjolfur officially declared him dead - in order to save face.

 

Although with family’s honor stained, Brynjolfur took refuge within the wilds. Heading outwards and traveling vast distances to towns and cities he cannot be bothered to remember. A wildman, who quickly discovered that men will pay handsomely for hunting outlaws. Ironic, given the circumstances.

 

As such, Brynjolfur became just that. A bounty hunter, a man of the law. Wandering from town to town to hunt monsters, and as well bring fugitives to justice. However once more his mind is uneven. Unsatisfied. Perhaps one day he will return, and make amends with his father.

 

Or perhaps destiny will bring him something else.

 

Roleplay Scenario:

Caught back by the warm welcome of the manlings, the dwarven fellow raises the eyes to the sharp-dressed person. His eyes scanning them, all the while he brushes along the thick brow. Wearing simple, albeit useful pieces of garment, a reinforced gambeson with chainmail shirt above it, and bear-furs fashioned upon his shoulders. With a long thick dark belt wrapped around the rotund gut, with various supplies hanging from it. An axe, a bear trap, various pouches and as well a canteen that is fashioned in the dwarven culture – depicting a hammer at the front with a round circle around it.

 

Brynjolfur heaves the belt further up along the waist line and responds with a humorous tone, “I’ve merely come to take a look around, and as well to restock on a few supplies before I head out into the woods again. Pray tell, wherever would I find smoked meat and ale around here?”.

 

As Brynjolfur poses the question his head tilts up.
