[!] A tarnished note is left stamped upon the bulletin board of Lareh’thilln, heralding a message for all to behold. Despite its forlorn, wretched tone, its penmanship still regarded itself with a grace characteristic to perhaps who the author once was, an echo of the past resounded in the present:

Mali’thill,

Time’s withering, dedications waning, duties lacking - it is nigh time for my resignation.

Service was once something I held to myself with great esteem in my youthful enthusiasm, yet with it’s passing, it would be a disservice to the traditions of Elmali’thill if I were to occupy this position any longer. Stagnancy is the antithesis of the Republic, of the ideals we so cherish as Mali’thill – and stagnancy is what I intend to uproot with this passing. Pursuant, I shall remain, of Elmaehr’sae Hiylun’ehya beyond the walls of Elcihi, for there is much I must do and see, but this letter marks the conclusion of my tenure as Elmaelunir of Elmaheral Sullas, of my work in Haelun’or.

My legacy is a matter I defer to my successors, and history for proper judgment, though let it be known my loyalties forever lie with those of our sanctified ilk.

Forget not the zeal of Kalenz Uradir in preserving the purity of our peoples, or the wisdom of Lucion Sullas in the pursuit of Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya. The strength of Elmali’thill lies in the fervencies of our convictions and our continuance. It is what brought us the Republic, this remarkable, unwavering will of our people, and it is what will guide us to the future – but do not ever forget your roots mali’thill, do not lose sight of the people we are, the people we must forever be.

With all stated, I bid Elcihi’thilln the best, and wish my successor success in their upheaval of my office.

Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya.

Kaean’leh Evareh,

Elmaelunir’paronn, Muriel Uradir.

The elderly elf Seth Calith read the note, remaining untouched by most of the text, nearing the end, a bitter scowl formed on the elf’s face. “Right. The youth.” He stated to himself with disdain, loud enough for potential others reading it to hear.

Silvyr Uradir allowed a soft sigh to escape his pursed lips as he read his brother’s resignation. He departed home, finding his way to his study table and open notebook. Picking up his pen, he formulated a response and a letter to his only blood brother.

 Dear Muriel,

The Uradir will always be a Talonnii looked up to in history, all should strive to be like Kalenz in some way. And you achieved his skill in politics in such a short amount of life. You dedicated your time to the council, and for that I am forever proud of you. It seems we as a Talonnii are growing in our own ways and nobody will ever blame you for taking your own path. Without you, it is unlikely I would have run for Okarir’maehr initially, and because of your support I achieved one of my longest lasting dreams in running the city’s education initiative. You were a great leader, and by far a greater mal’onn. I hope to see you soon, but if I don’t,  I bid you safe travels, and good luck on whatever path you lead now. You have my full undying support, Muriel.

Your Loving Mal’onn,  Silvyr Uradir.

The Uradir folded his paper in half, and tucked it into the sleeve of an envelope. He walked down to the mailbox with a somber stomp, and placed it in to send it off when the next courier came by to take it.

The Sohaer’s eyes traced the forum board, falling upon a note of fine penmanship which was only faulted in the wornness of its paper. A faint, somber smile formed on that elf’s lips as he spoke to himself, “He was a tireless servant of the Republic, a true adherent of Elmaehr’sae Hiylun’ehya, and an inspiration to my younger self.”

Elathion looks over the missive, reminiscing of the adventures he and his fellow revolutionaries had, a smile appearing on his face. Then he remembers Muriel’s actions in Athera and his smile promptly disappears.

Ikur Sullas sighs and nods, his Maelunir leaving the position honorably and with a legacy of pure service. In the Maheral’s classic fashion, he sends a lovely gift basket to Mister Uradir with an assortment of fancy soaps, lovely teas and luxurious pajamas.

No good Civil Servant leaves office un-gift-basketed.

Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya.

The Thilln’ Laurir resided within her manor, looking fearfully unto her lab; the door shut and bolted tight, as she watched from the outside. She received the letter from a housemaid, opening it one-handedly and viewing it quietly, unchanging expression viewing over the parchment.

”Good. I know you’ll have done better than most. Despite your preoccupation. Feel true freedom now that you have broken your shackles, and watch your scars heal as you forgive the past and move forward.”

Anethra finished, setting the letter to her sidebag. She felt joy, in a fleeting moment, as the residual dread was ignored for some time afterward. Thoughts of her cousin filling her mind, and her tragic, long-passed other, cousin.

Ivoriel reads over the message in the dead of night, quietly twisting a ring on her finger, the gem on it seeming to shift from a pale red to a deeper blue, a mix of emotions flickering in her eyes as she contemplates over a simmering cup of tea. Frankly, nothing changes with this, she was used to the empty bed, there hadn’t been another body in it for awhile. “Well I waited this long, guess I’ll wait a bit longer Mayilun.” she sighs, mumbling to herself.
