Letter to the Aulic Court, 371 ES

Issued By

Fionn Castaway

On the 10th of Jula and Piov, 371 ES

Va ve Wicaczjoest ag ve Jovenaar i Haense,

The Royal Duma is a crucial part of Haense’s culture. It grants the subjects of the Kingdom, be they noble or commoner, the chance to have their say about the law of the nation. In all nomination letters plastered around the city at the start of an election season, there is a set of 10 rules which all candidates must meet. I wish to ask the Aulic Court to clarify one such rule. The rule in question is:

  • 5. Candidates must not be a titled peer;

This rule has raised the question for me and several others, the question being;

Can a Regent run for an elected seat?

As we have seen this election season, Aldrik Baruch, Regent of house Amador, is running for an Alderman seat. However, his title of Regent grants him all the rights and responsibilities of a Peer save for the title of Peer, one of these rights being a seat in the Royal Duma. As such, this raises the question of whether he satisfies the eligibility criteria.

With this said, the Aulic Council is asked to publish their legal opinion on the matter.

The Honorable Royal Alderman, Fionn Castaway
