It also means wealth, it is a very important flower for religious traditions, or the Li-Ren New Century. The Emperor of Ai-zho for many generations was the only person to have access to these beautiful and sweet smelling flowers, at times gifting them to only the most favored of Concubines.  The Peony is often used in traditional Li-Ren paintings, silk embroidery, national clothes and decorations.

It’d been believed that they had some kind of medicinal properties, but after studying the flower, it has proven to have none so far. On the other hand they are edible, so if you're finding yourself in need of a snack look no further. While the flower might not have medicinal properties, the roots of the White Peony do and can be made into tea by soaking it into boiling water, giving the water a warm honey color. It’s believed this tea can support good liver and kidney health, also helping to fight off sickness, though studies have not supported these claims so far.
