One must be able to fully pledge themselves to a liege, willing to serve their ruler for as long as they live, taking with it the trials and tribulations of a vassal. However, in return, a liege must treat their vassals fairly, and never wish harm upon them. Thus, a vassal-liege relationship must be built on mutual respect. However, as shown by the former liege of His Grace, Konstanz Barclay, the Duke of Roonmar, such relationships are rare, and easily ruined. Earlier this Saint’s Day, Mikhail Var Ruthern expressed his desire to see the Duke’s blood on his blade to many of the man’s subjects, including the Duke in question. Such outrageous behaviour by a liege is unacceptable, and the Duchy of Roonmar shall not stand for it. Thus, the following is declared; I. The Duchy of Roonmar declares its independence from the false claimant of Hoonse. II. The Principality of Sootica is established as a sovereign state to be ruled by His Highness, Konstanz Barclay. III. The Principality of Sootica no longer recognises the false claim of Mikhail Var Ruthern to the Kingdom of Hoonse.
