FOUNDING OF CELIAN COURT

At the upper echelons of elven society, those that had proved their worth and diligence for bettering their people had gathered together to intermingle and improve upon the foundations of their potential. The accomplishments of the individual were overshadowed by what could become from coordination and reaching an accord over how the society they had built should operate. The foundations of which are built to last for centuries and continue to grow into what the true pinnacle of society for elves should be.

The Celian Court was founded in the year of 1868 with the Principality of Celia’nor as the example of what the people of the land of stars should strive to become and achieve. The court is responsible for the upkeep of society and social standards for the royarch of Celia’nor. Members of the court and its interior council tend to the palace and those that frequent it., striving for excellence not only in custodial work but for the betterment of society as a whole. Knowledge, poise, and amelioration of society are at the core of the values for the court.

“The ease of grace, the essence of regality. These are the markings of any true court who seeks majesty.”

CIRCLE OF STARS

The Circle of Stars, or otherwise the governing council of the courts, are responsible for the management and stewarding of the royarch’s palace and grounds. They function in such a way that the Arch-Princess can govern their realm without the worry of things going awry within the walls encompassing their seat of power. Composed of three seated councilors, each fulfills a certain role as befitting their area of expertise and skill. The Silver Seneschal of Fi’andria, marked by a wrought-silver star pendant worn at their chest or lapel, is the head of this interior council.

COURT TRADITIONS

FESTIVITIES
Seasonal Celebrations

With ever changing seasons, there is a reason to celebrate  and show appreciation for every facet of life. During each thirteen year period, one of the seasons is celebrated by the elves of Celia’nor to breathe life into the city. This ranges from boating races and festivals in the sun during the summer, feasts and harvest festivals in the autumnal years, dances and gift giving in the winter, and springtime revels. It is not limited to those, yet those are most common.

Solstice Festivals

To celebrate the fruitful years that are to come and to witness the changing of the bodies that occupy the sky, festivals are held in the open meadows of Celia’nor. These festivals call all across the realm to take part in the celebrations and festival goings. At these festivals it is common for games and merchants to make an appearance.

Dance of the Stars

Whenever there is significant change or celestial event within the skies, there are a variety of different festivals and dances that are called for each one. These celestial movements offer symbolism to that which is to come, for example the blood moon is a symbol of strength, a solar eclipse is that of prosperity, and so on. During these festivals of the celestial, it is there that the Celian people show their progress and developments on showcases to mark the end of one period of focus and the beginning of another.

CUSTOMS

Court Promotions

When a member of Celia’nor society is promoted within the courts, it is typically done by the Arch-Princess or one of the Circle of Stars. This promotion is done in front of the courts and typically when it is a higher rank it is followed by a celebration or soiree that is related to their promotion.

Initiation of a Courtier

When one expresses interest in becoming a courtier, it is not an automatic appointment but rather one that requires dedication and understanding of the court's functions. To become a courtier, one shadows either a current member of the court which holds a position other than courtier or one of the Circle of Stars for the period of one elven week to understand the various duties of the court.

COURT COUTURE

Fashion within the land of stars is held in extremely high regard as well as the traditions and customs of what is proper. It is expected that one sticks to the dress attire that has been expressed in invitations to events, from formalwear or casualwear, otherwise it is seen as an insult to the host and oneself. Modesty is expected in most situations, though showing shoulders or arms is acceptable.

Within the courts of Celia’nor, nobles are granted special privileges of wearing bronze circlets to signify their status and accomplishments. It is heavily frowned upon for those not of nobility to dawn circlets. The heads of noble houses often wear that of signet rings of their family crests, though some chose to take up that of brooches which are adorned with fine gems to be passed down through the generations.

COURTING

When a citizen of Celia’nor reaches the age of twenty-five, it is generally the age at which they are able to properly begin courting within the courts and Fi’andria as a whole. While nobles are encouraged to combine the prestige of their bloodlines, it is common to marry those of non noble status that are well-respected within the city. While minor displays of affection in public are allowed, it is otherwise frowned upon especially outside of marriage.

Valindra, now an enjoyer of men and women alike, would have voiced her  agreement with Gabriel if only they knew each other.
