~*Halfling Recruitment Post*~

Are you burned out from wars, raids, and drama? Do you wish you could just chill out and build stuff every now and then? Why not make a halfling!

Why a halfling?

Halflings have been on the server since sub-races were added in 2011. Ever since then, halflings and the villages they create have served as a good escape from the rest of the server with our small but dedicated community. Halflings have their own culture and history going back all those years as well, with many aspects of the culture dating back as far as 2012 or even 2011. Halflings focus on the small pleasures of life, with lots of on agricultural and pastoral work-roleplay along with small talk and booze drinking. Despite this, halflings are also known for having the most insane player-ran events out of any race. So far this map, we've had killer oversized rats lay siege to a castle, an encounter with a pumpkin-submarine, underground dungeon exploration sessions, gremlins in the well, and more! It's absolutely worthwhile popping into the village sometimes whenever something crazy is going on just to check things out!

Perks of a halfling

-Free alcohol in the tavern!

-Easy access to building materials!

-The ability to build your very own halfling burrow! We're one of the last holdouts of LOTC DIY culture.

-Wacky eventlines planned by by leadership or even just random halflings!

-No wars. Ever. Halflings as a whole have not officially taken part in any wars throughout our whole history (except some end of map eventlines I suppose).

-See below

Halfling Families

Here are the current active halfling families you can join:

-Peregrins, family of the current Thain and TakeMeT0TheFae, carrying on the legacy of the old Thain, Iris Peregrin~

-Applefoots, with two active members (including myself), carrying on the legacy of the old Thain, Rollo Applefoot~

-Fiddleberries, a newer family that owns a vineyard in the village~

(fiddleberry family post is a WIP)

As a bonus deal, for as long as my surplus minas stash lasts, I will be repaying any skin commissions for new halfling players. Message me on discord (NotEvilAtAll#2321) if you are interested.

You can also ask me to personally make you a halfling skin, although I'm only really good at male skins.

Oop time to shill for halflings (just kidding I constantly shill for halflings)

Probably would have left lotc for good if I hadn't happened upon a halfling festival back in Arcas. The few playerbases I'd joined constantly fizzled out and hopping between nation events didn't do much to draw me into anywhere in particular.

Until I saw a Halloween festival event end with the halflings detonating their entire village and decided I needed in on that.

Rolled up to their refugee camp in an old war fort as a scruffy orphan halfling Sorrel Rosehipp the same month.

About 2 years later, I still main Sorrel! She's now Dr Sorrel Rosehipp 'Ironbrew' Mudfoot-Mowood Peregrin, ex thain and sheriff, adopted into two seperate halfling families and related to three seperate thains. Her feats in life involve childhood friendship with the halfling pope, forging medical documents, meeting god at a gay wedding, being eaten by a squid, detonating a troll and out-drinking a team of orcs in a contest.

I also play two other halfings, in the Fiddleberries and one Goodbarrel soon to be a Fiddleberry too.

I'll say this honestly: best decision I ever made on lotc was to not only make a halfling, but Stick With It. We go through periods of inactivity as any smaller group will, but halflings are the only group im 100% confident every time that we'll never die out completely.

Being halfling is great. Halflings r great.

While I have never played a halfling by race, my most beloved main (the eponymous Barbog) is an honorary halfling and I have never once regretted the time I spend among the weefolk. I have never been exposed to any toxicity or drama within the halfling community, irp or ooc, and the only time I haven't been happy when spending time with them was when one of them would pk- and the day would be devoted to a funeral and mourning in their honor, before getting back into the welcoming, friendly atmosphere of the day prior.

I've spent stints as lord of the well-city underneath their village, and recently opened up a magic school to add more flavour and cultural magicks to the village's daily going-on; not because of a love of teaching, but a love of the halflings and their players, and a desire to see them able to express themselves in even more ways.

Halflings always been good to me, sometimes more than I deserve, and I couldn't find it in myself to ever leave during my time on LOTC- any time I had a turn somewhere else, I'd always find my way back to Honeyhill and be welcomed back with open arms.

Despite all the friends I have across nations and cultures in the server, there is none that I feel I would be able to endorse more than the halflings. If you're in it for politicking or war or power for power's sake, then this won't be for you- but if you're just trying to have a good time and make friends, there is no better group on LOTC for that experience.

Whether you're looking for a new main that encapsulates your idyllic farming (and debatably alcoholic) life, or just looking to have a character you can use to 'get away from it all' when drama rears it's head in your current nation, halflings will always have my total support.

halflings are pretty fuckin awesome, most of the time there's no smallbrained discord drama going on they're just the epitome of "Drama this, drama that, I just want to farm for gods sakes!"

While I haven't been active in general, or especially as a halfling recently, I can 100% vouch for the halflings being a fun lot if they have the type of vibe you want to run with.
