Ivarielle teaching Raziel how to play the lyre, circa 63 SA

Foreword

Growing up in Fenn, I will never forget the fateful day of my early childhood when I first met Ivarielle. Though I've seen her before, heard some of her speeches and read her missives I understood little at the time, I did understand her brilliance and decided to make notes of what she said.

“I'll teach you how to fight, so long as you strum the strings of that lyre and eventually come to present its sounds to the masses. For music is something our people, across all lines of Malin lack. It's a beautiful art and those that can't even strum a string can flail and dance and that is an art in its own right too. We need to have such professions. So when fighting comes and passes, we have beauty.” - Ivarielle Ibarellan

Though these words were far from the only, they stuck with me ever since: As a young child I dreamt what many dreamed about - being a great warrior, fighting in her army. I was told differently.

It has been 40 years now that she declared the Silver Princedom, yet her ideas which quickly became the new way of the Mali’aheral have not been written down since. In the following document I will summarize her ideas and how they developed in our proud state of High Elves: Celia’nor - the land of stars.

Part one; Stars

The stars guide the way for all that choose to follow them, much as Celia’nor remains open for all those that choose to follow our customs and laws. Instead of remaining closed off, purposefully following a starless sky, we shall become the beacon for all who choose to follow.

The beauty of the night sky remains a key factor of the promotion of beautiful arts: Music, winemaking, painting, dancing, cooking, and so on and so forth. But to only preserve such and themselves would be a folly: the Mali’aheral must also enjoy themselves and their own greatness.

But this is not the only part: the ideals must have a powerful backing or else the state will not withstand enemies wanting destruction and ruin.

Part two; Power

To protect the state from such enemies, power must be acquired. It is the lifeblood of every nation. That power can only be improved upon when held by the most competent the Mali’aheral can offer within a hierarchical state. The past has shown democracies, especially those lead by the incompetent, have brought the Mali’aheral close to ruin.

Knowledge secures power. The study of sciences, engineering, and most especially the arcane are what the Mali’aheral have been known to pursue for some centuries now. These studies, promoted and encouraged by the state, are what secure the Mali’aheral’s place amongst their brethren.

No longer with Mali’aheral shun the other races as mere lessers; cooperation and diplomacy instead of isolation are to be sought.

Part three; A new way

The above mentioned guidelines shall be the basis for our nation, but they are not harsh rules to be strictly followed. Flexibility and adaptability of the guidelines shall be the beginning. All above mentioned will be summarized in one phrase in our ancient language: celian synallin’ehya - stars and power.

A fainted smile hushes over Illarion's face as he read the the document while holding a cup of cocktail . "Ivarielle's ideals and belief has certainly been a topic of intrigue, yet this is the best summary of it." The Lord Chancellor and soon-to-be Prince stated cynically before he enjoy his cherry liquor cocktail. "Celian synallin’ehya"

Karl III mused from the faraway lands of Hanseti-Ruska upon the Celianor missive. "To be guided by the stars is something all worthy friends should believe in. Perhaps there they hold an observatory that I may be able to look and learn from."
