A portrait detailing The Count of Revedin, Georg von Reuss c.1933

There once existed a boy, who yearned for a life beyond the gilded confines of his kingdom. Despite the lavish comforts that bestowed his family, he nurtured a deep-seated discontent, for each day was but an echo of the preceding, and the unquenchable thirst for freedom from this agonizing cycle consumed his very being. Thus, he resolved to forge a plan, a masterstroke of liberation that would grant him the freedom he so ardently craved.

With meticulous precision, he honed his stratagem, biding his time until the perfect confluence of circumstances presented itself. And one auspicious day, it unfurled before him unlike any prior. Enveloped in the velvety cloak of twilight, while his kin slumbered serenely within their chambers, he embarked upon his clandestine journey. Stealthily, he eluded the vigilant guards who patrolled the gates, their watchful gaze foiled by nothing short of serendipitous providence. At last, he emerged into the realm of unshackled existence.

The forest, an ethereal sanctuary where life frolicked unrestrained, welcomed him with open arms. A tapestry of towering pines and majestic oaks formed a canopy above, as if nature itself rejoiced in his newfound emancipation. "I am free," he whispered unto himself, his breath mingling with the coolness of his surroundings. With resolute steps, he delved deeper into the enigmatic abyss, surrendering to its untamed allure. Though the biting cold gnawed at his flesh and the inky darkness encased him, he found solace in the knowledge that freedom transcended such constraints. Reclining upon a bed of leaves, he gazed skyward through the filtered veil of arboreal silhouettes, his thoughts crystallizing in the profound realization that, despite all else, he was utterly and unequivocally free.

The Margravial House of Reuss

24th of Harren's Folly, 1934

With hearts laden in profound sorrow, the Margravial house of Reuss solemnly announces the demise of their eldest scion. Discovered ensconced in the embrace of the fringing Aaunic woodlands, the boy's presence was uncovered, having relinquished the mortal coil, yielding to the caress of exposure's callous clasp. Nevertheless, in the face of this tragic fate, his countenance remained, rather mysteriously, adorned with an ethereal grace, an ineffable serenity retained upon his visage with the enduring glow of a tranquil smile. However, with his untimely passing, a new heir must duly be proclaimed, and thus the County of Revedin gracefully transitions to rest upon the shoulders of the boy's younger brother, Siegmund Otto von Reuss (@Timer). The house earnestly beseeches from the inhabitants of Aaun their privacy and solace amidst the wake of these arduous times.

Spoiler

I would like to extend my wholehearted thanks to @ncarr for generously offering me this character. Although I did not come to assume the role of margrave, I am nonetheless immensely grateful for the experience. Additionally, I want to express my gratitude to @Timer for graciously engaging in roleplay as my character's father, and for gracefully accepting the mantle of heir.

Ravenna von Reuss wondered which generation her husband was going to outlive next. She sighed sitting patiently at the old man's bedside as she waited for Leopold to die.  @Optimus420

The decrepit old Reuss looked over the missive, shedding a solemn tear as he found himself roaming the countryside of Aaun, he passed by a small wayfaring chapel of St. Waldo, he prayed that his great-grandson would be at peace in the Seven Skies above. He murmured to himself in a somber tone, "Yet here I remain, outliving yet another. For this is my penance given unto me by the Almighty." The man went on to remember all those who he had outlived, wondering when the lord would tell him his time has come, but until that time was bestowed unto him, he would carry on.
