The Lady Adelheid accompanied by a lady of the Aaunic court

Lady Adelheid Mathilde von Reuss, a spirited child, was away on a wardship, studying under a foreign queen when tragedy struck her family. Unaware of the dark clouds gathering above her home, Adelheid was caught in the excitement of her adventures. She had always possessed a curious and adventurous spirit, seeking knowledge and cultural experiences beyond the confines of her Aaunite upbringing. The news of her parents' illness had not reached her, for the remaining household members were left in sorrow, unaware how to carry on.

Days passed, and the longing for her home grew stronger in Adelheid's heart. As the time to return for a visit approached, she felt a sense of anticipation mixed with anxiety. Little did she know that her arrival would coincide with heart-wrenching news. Upon entering the familiar gates of her residence within the capital of Whitespire, a heavy atmosphere surrounded the estate, and a feeling of unease washed over her. The usual buzz of servants and cheerful greetings was conspicuously absent. Instead, she was met with solemn faces and hushed whispers.

“Hallo? vhat’z vrong?”

As she made her way through the hallways, she finally encountered her elder brother Siegmund, who looked upon her with profound sympathy. Unable to bear the burden of the news, he hesitated for a moment before revealing the truth.

“Mutter. . . und Vater?”

The illness had been relentless, and despite the best efforts of the estate's skilled physicians, they could not be saved. Tragically, they passed away while she was far from home, unable to see them or bid them farewell in their final moments. This little girl was overcome with shock and grief. The reality of her parents' absence hit her like a tidal wave, and she felt an overwhelming sense of guilt for not being by their side during their time of need. She wished she could turn back time and be there to offer comfort and love during their last breaths.

In the days that followed, Adelheid mourned deeply, seeking solace in the memories of her parents and finding support from her brother. She resolved to honor their legacy and make them proud by upholding the values they instilled in her.

To the Friends and remaining Relatives of Adelheid,

Penned by the House von Reuss scribe

“In the time of loss for House von Reuss, I wish to seek comfort from my closest friends. First my brother and now my parents. . . I do not know how to feel. The loss of my parents is a heavy burden to bear, and the presence of caring loved ones can provide much-needed comfort so that we can carry on in remembrance of them.”

S I G N E D,

Her Ladyship, Adelheid Mathilde von Reuss

Alfred lingered in his chambers - with the letter in his hands. He set it down onto his desk and paced around his room for a moment (a rare occurrence for the fat child), before halting in his tracks and settling into a chair. ".. Ich will surely need to visit after this - perhaps bring ein Landser or two."

The Queen of Haense - the foreign Queen the girl had taken a wardship with, received a copy of the girl's mournful letter. Her heart ached for the child, as she understood the loss of parents all too well.

"Do ensure her quarters are tidied for her return, please?" The Queen directs her solemn gaze to a servant, who begins to polish the mirror within Lady Reuss' quarters.

To my great-granddaughter and the House of Reuss,

I ride to Whitespire in hopes of meeting you proper. I have heard much of you and my descendants from your mother, may GOD keep her at peace. I have spent many years away from you all, but in this time of grieving, I write this letter to you dear Adelheid and your siblings as I ride to you in the coming Saint’s Day.

SIGNED,

Ser Leopold Ulrich von Reuss

Siegmund von Reuss knelt in prayer, crossing the Lorraine on his chest as he offered a small prayer to his sister and family.

In the very halls of the Amador Manor, Karl Isaak Amador rested his back against the cobble stoned wall. Distress and agonizing sadness fell upon the youth, gripping the missive tightly in his grasp; holding deep sorrow and disbelief for his dear friend. He resembled, remembering of the same situation that had happened to him in his past years when his mother had passed. Though - Karl's mother was just - a long lost memory? A memory that had washed away from his mind - forever? Mother, is this how I had felt when you have passed? Why can't I remember your face? All the boy could do is shrink down his bottom to the very wooden floor beneath his feet, arching his skeleton back on the stoned wall and cradled, holding his legs together tightly. He sat there staring straight ahead at the cobbled wall in the corridor, thinking that he could have done something - but what? All the boy could feel was sadness for his friend... He dropped the written missive on the floor beneath his feet, for the moment.

"I will be there for vy my dear friend, Adelheid, I swear o' it," he thought to himself, sinking his head between his legs and the boy's scrawny, little hands started massaging his scalp, "We are in this together," he spoke, thinking out loud. He remained there in silence until the candle's yellow, flickering red light in the corridor's room had dissipated into a steam of smoke.
