I hope this letter finds you in good health Cousine. I would like to express my deep thanks for your long standing dedication and service to our family. Your commitment to Halcourt has not gone unnoticed, and your leadership has been instrumental in many ways. However, I believe it is time for us to have an important conversation about the future direction of our family.

 

In recent times, I have observed certain challenges and opportunities that warrant our careful consideration, albeit action held back due to slow bureaucracy. It is with the utmost respect and genuine concern for the well-being of our family that I write to you today, in an open letter to the realms, forcing action.

 

I firmly believe that for the betterment of our family and to ensure its continued growth and prosperity, a transition in leadership is needed. Your contributions have been invaluable, but as circumstances evolve, it becomes evident that there are individuals within our family who possess the skills, energy, and vision needed to lead us into a new era of action.

 

This suggestion is not a reflection of any shortcomings on your part; rather, it is a recognition of the dynamic nature of our family and the need to adapt to changing times. Your legacy as a respected leader will always be a part of our family's history, and your guidance will remain cherished.

 

I understand that this request may come as a surprise, and it is not made lightly. I hope you will consider it with an open heart and a deep understanding of the love and respect we hold for you. Your wisdom and experience will continue to be sought after, and your role within the family will remain significant.

 

I am open to calling the family to the moot, as tradition. But inaction will not hold back the family, be it a forced or civil situation

Some matters are not suited for open letters. The love and respect this Baron claims to have would call for this matter to be held privately. The only reason to drag this out into the public is to rally support against Ser Laurens. By all appearances this is a dishonorable act of duplicity.

The Marquis du Clermont Laurens I quickly responded to this public slight,

 

"George, Philip, and Victor,

 

You have all truly forgotten where you come from, and it is disheartening. It is I who vouched for the creation of your title off of the back of my own hard work, George. I have been a man of action since the moment I took over the stagnant Barony of Artois on Aevos, a position that I, like you, George, was not born for. You see what I have done with it, it is doable for you as well. Envy is never the road best travelled, and it is quite distasteful.

 

Never will I deal with another insurrection in my life and that is why I shall squash it now; so we shall MOOT, but it will not be for my titles, the titles that I have earned and will die with.

 

I have earned my rightful place as the Scion of the Halcourt Dynasty -- and I will not be bullied. I was not called into an office and made the Baron because my sister disappeared. If the Barony af Brasca, a subsidiary title of mine, continues to entertain such hostile rhetoric, there will be no place in my lands for you.

 

Respond quickly or evict yourself from my home. I am not even sixty-years old and you all take me for some geriatric Lord. You insult our fair Queen in doing so, as we are the same age.

 

Philip, I have nothing to say to you other than I expected more from you than these treasonous acts.

 

Victor, you have no right to sign such a missive. I have not seen your face since you abandoned your home, Knighthood, and job. You are not a true Halcourt.

Cousin Laurens,

 

” It is unfortunate that we must speak on these terms, though I hold no ill will towards you, or any other member of the House Halcourt. I was reached out upon by the Lord af Brasca and after listening to his claims, I deemed appropriate to sign upon, though I shall do no more than such. It is insulting that you seek to tarnish the reputation in which I held both in Petra and the household. Though I have always loved my realm, my duty first comes to my wife and my children. Therefore I go where she goes. My time as Castellan has certainly proven my worth and diligence to the household and therefore it is unfortunate, but you have no right to insult my name. If anything, I am a true husband, and a true Father; something that each house shit hold dearly to them. Whatever shall be going on back in Petra, I wish you the best. I hold no loyalty to either side and therefore will do my best to remain neutral. If the Lord af Brasca speaks truth, then I hope you the best and shall pray for the House Halcourt’s continuance in hopes for the newer generations. Please do what is best for your home and your children and grandchildren.”
