The Balianese people are no exception to this universal truth, and they place great importance on this transformation. To honor and mark this profound passage, the Balianese have developed a rich tapestry of time-honored traditions and rituals. Incorporating a blend of cultural influences, such as those from royal and noble families, the Rhenyari, and Old Balthalite traditions, Balianese culture places significant emphasis on rites of passage. The celebration of key events, the exchange of meaningful gifts, and the Votive Sashes are all integral elements that vividly illustrate the richness of this culture. These traditions serve to commemorate an individual's growth during their youth and anticipate the promising future that awaits them as they step into adulthood. ✧────────────⥼☼⥽────────────✧ I ⥼ The Festival of AdulthooD ⥽ ~Youths Preparing a Festa de l’Edat Adulta~ Every eighth year, the sixteen to twenty four year olds will gather together and plan together the Festa de l’Edat Adulta, a festival that is meant to celebrate their joint transitions into adulthood. Held only once every eighth, representative of the eight years Saint Malcolm spent to become ordained as a priest. Three events will be held over three months, one to signify the unity of the nation, one to raise mina for the state as a show of loyalty and another to display the vibrancy of youth. There shall be no intervention in the planning of these events and it is purely up to the decision of the group what shall happen and when. During the events, each member of the ‘Consell de Festa’ is required to wear a sash with the colours of their familial house upon it be it noble or common. This sash makes it clear to those participating in the celebrations who are part of the Consell de Festa. Given a year to prepare the festivities, the Consell de Festa is given the full support of the Crown to ensure their experience of this once in a lifetime festival is enjoyed by themselves over any others. ✧⥼☼⥽✧ II ⥼ The Gift of Protection ⥽ ~A Young Noble Woman receiving her Regal de Protecció~ A disappointing staple of life as an adult is that combat and danger is never too far from oneself at all times. While the existence of the nation's guards lessens such a threat, it is a certainty that you will have to face an enemy at some point. With this matter in mind the Balianese hold the tradition of Regal de Protecció very close to their hearts. Both an appreciation of one’s adulthood as well as a sign of care from one’s family, this tradition was born from scripts of the Old Balthalite Empire describing the gifting of a paramerion to the adult boys of the culture. Once an individual reaches their eighteenth year of life, they will be gifted their Regal de Protecció, which is a dagger, made specifically for the individual in question. Often made to represent aspects of both the new adult’s personality and family, the dagger has no set design by any means. Commoners opt for designs with minimal decoration and a far more practical design, whereas the nobility of Balian choose to have a more decorative and exquisite blade for their child, sometimes less functional. ✧⥼☼⥽✧ III ⥼ Tapestries of LifE ⥽ ~Saint Lothar and his wife exchanging Votive Sashes~ A tradition dating back to the seventh of the Lothar Tablets series, which offers a unique glimpse into the culture and customs of the Old Balthalite people, Votive Sashes hold a significant role in documenting an individual's personal growth and evolving experiences throughout their lifetime. This practice was deeply woven into the lives of the Ancient Balthalite Empire's people, where families would bestow a votive sash upon their young members, often designed in their familial house colors. These sashes are typically embellished with small designs over time, reflecting the wearer's experiences and evolving personality. Such sashes are proudly worn during the Festa de l'Edat Adulta and may also be worn during a person's debut in the social season, if desired.
