To the Crown of Hanseti-Ruska & the Aulic Council,

 

It has been six years since our house lost it's patriarch, Duke Viktor var Ruthern, to the cataclysmic Comet Lesanov that struck the old city of Valdev and reduced it to smoldering ruin. With his death, the seat of Lord Emissar has remained vacant and without any clear candidate for suitable replacement. Though I wish to think it is out of tribute to the memory of my departed grandsire, I would be remiss not to understand that it is equally as likely that options for a successor are simply few and lacking.

 

I have now spent seven years as the King's own cupbearer and ward, learning at his side whilst pouring drink for various foreign dignitaries and heads of state. I am afforded a firsthand experience, learning the day-to-day business of leadership and governance. So too have I learned the way of conversation, to make deals and agreements that will be to the benefit of both parties, or how to quell the frustration of those who might not agree with what it is we offer. And, if that education is not enough, I played a part in penning the recent treaty with the Principality of Reinmar, whilst His and Her Majesty were away on pilgrimage and at the request of Lord Palatine Radovanic. Such is an example of how, already, I have experienced up close our nation's foreign diplomacy and policy.

 

Thus I put myself, Lady Milena vas Ruthern, forth as a candidate for Lady Emissar of Hanseti-Ruska. I feel strongly that my time as a student has passed, that I might now finally put my mind and skill to better use in service to our kingdom. It is my sincere wish that you will strongly consider me, and my merits.
