An Open Missive from the Diocese of Rhosmark

WHEN first I was sent to Ravenmire by Caius I, of most blessed memory, a certain one feared for my safety, saying: "These people may cut off your ears." Thus when I came to Ravenmire it was with trembling. However, I happily report, and will happily say and say again– that I have found no such flayishness in Ravenmire. Indeed, and those people given to me as my flock have accepted me with open arms, with no lack of consideration, joyously with deference and respect.

 

It is true that the matter of Illatius and Magnus, and the prejudice with which the other nations of Canonism have scorned them, weighed heavy on their hearts. But, having discussed the matter with them at length, I have detected not a trace of bloodthirstiness. They have put their hope for Justice wholly in God and in His church. The Auditor can attest also to this. 

 

This applies even and especially to Gaspard Winburgh, and I find the accusation that he plans to take vengeance into his own hands frankly unbelievable. Indeed, I have often thought that if all Mankind were of the temperment of the people of Ravenmire, there would be no wars among the descendants and the Deceiver would be shortly overthrown.

 

There are found within the cities of Ravenmire no Daelishness whatsoever. 

 

On the details of the accusations, the Grand Auditor can well inform you at length. My flock only wishes for you to know their earnest desire for reconciliation with Canondom and an end to wars between all descendants. They entrust themselves with humility and deference to God and your most wise judgements.

Postscript:

 

I would have you informed of the goblin Bon'Ox. I can not speak to his current actions or ideas, but his upbringing was partially entrusted to me after the death of his adopted father Sir Gob Ztabba-Zniffa, who was a knight of Petra, a zealous convert to the Canonist Faith martyred for whitewashing.

 

After Sir Ztabba-Zniffa's death, Bon'Ox was assaulted by another member of his own race. I found him bloodied under the corpse of his attacker, his jaw had been broken, his arms flayed to stumps, and his entrails impaled by a blade. When I saw the light begin to fade from his eyes I called upon the intercession of his martyred father and saw Bon'Ox's vitality rally and return to him, thus does he survive to this day. I hope that Gob's intercession will continue to work on him, and that Gob's heavenly status will come to be widely recognized and further ease the division between the four brothers. This I have seen with my own eyes and testify to before God and man.

   A young Haverlock looks around the half built city around, slowly he walks up to the half completed and reads over the missive placed on the church. Letting out a sigh he does a quick pray for peace as he then goes to start work on the library.

Bon'Ox, the one-armed goblin who, while not a canonist himself, does keep up with the church missives & thesis now and then - glances at the parchment before him. "Half da kanonizt have da wordz, bawt nub deedz ob mi popo." he mumbles to himself. He's aught to pay a visit to Friend after things have calmed down within The Heartlands.
