Citizens of Urguan

Briga read the blatant provocation and found herself perplexed.

Hatred toward her kin was a common enough thing, though very rarely expressed in an open invitation to combat, much less one directed at the whole of Urguan. She wondered what the agitator sought to gain should Urguan respond how they desired.

For that matter, the Dwarfess was curious how Urguan would respond to this seemingly random letter of contempt. It would be a bit extreme, in her opinion, to mobilize a force to assail an unknown citadel over a few petty insults... But Briga knew how eager her kind could be for a fight.

And despite the supposed sturdiness of Dwarves, she knew their skin was at times very thin when it came to insults.

A roaring laugh comes from desp within a mountain, though not one near the lands of the Grand Kingdom of the Urguani Dwarves, instead originating from the blazing fortress of the Redmont Hold. "Teh bastard's got a' point, bet weh live lon', weh liveh en. Our greatest smit' since Urguan 'nd 'is sons 'avent been born yet, our greatest forges nae lit yet" Vidnyr di Ixolar, the Dark Dwarf of the Ashened Mountains mused, his hands working steadily on hid next Mastercraft Creation, his mastery of Golemancy and the Arcane working together to create something formidabele.

He ordered his Servus Golem to retrieve some parchment to pen a letter to Naele, the Dwarf taking to hand the ancient quill gifted to him by Garrond Frostbeard long ago.

The letter, leased with the following stamp, would read:

Spoiler

Dear Naele,

First, I have to say it takes a certain amount of nerve to challenge a whole Race and Kingdom to a fight or war, especially one where there are an equal amount of warriors as there are citizens, all of whom are lead by some of Urguan's finest en centuries.

I find it curious however that you feel the need to insult us, instead of merely suggesting that we have lost our touch. Come with proof of your claims, and challenge us to a battle of the Forge, one overseen by Yemekar himself.

No, instead, you lower yourself to the standard set long ago by those jealous of our accomplishments, jealous of our creations, eager to take them for yourself, when we shared that we were passionate about. This cannot stand, for this is not only an insult to our Kin, but also yours, and that which those honourable in your bloodline stood for.

So here is my suggestion. Come to Urguan, challenge our finest to a Competition of Hammer and Anvil, take them on head to head with flame, steel and Stone, and see if your claims stand true after that.

Kind Regards

[!] A letter was penned back to Vidnyr di Ixolar.

Quote

My nature disallows me from treading within Urguan, yet your challenge is accepted nonetheless. Trek to the highest mountains, find my fortress. There, you shall witness our highly advanced craft, as we challenge you to a competition of Hammer and Anvil.

Do not hesitate to visit.

The Ashened Dwarf of Redmont smiles from within his cavern, nodding slowly as the bird that delivered the letter flew off. "C'allenge accepted" He murmered as the gears in his head started to turn.

Fallon is not a dwarf. Fallon is not a citizen of Urguan. But she is a halfling, and she is filled with anger at this.

How dare whoever-this-is imply the dwarves golems aren't all good-like? There's no one else Fallon would rather learn from! She wants to learn everything from them. Weaponsmithing, metalcrafting- everything! She doesn't understand the disrespect.

"Well tha's mighty rude-like!" she says, shoving berries into her mouth. "I migh' jus' gotta go in there an' sneak out some riches first m'self! Nothin' I haven' done before."

Brôk read the missive. "Ah ain't seen ah more transparent attempt at baitin' our kin  in all me loife..." he said to himself, before getting back to his masonry work. "Anehone headin' up them mountains with ah purpose that ain't absolute eradication 'o these fools, is ah fool themselves 'n seeks their own death."
