VA VE EDLERVIK,

Upon taking the throne, it was Queen Juliya’s wish that there be a reformation of the knowledge of fashion based on her heritage. Whilst taking appreciation for the current culture of attire, she decreed that a sprinkle of her Waldenian blood be brought unto the folds of Haense culture. With that decree, the Royal Mistress of the Wardrobe alongside the Cultural Arts department of the courts - put out this collective journal.

There are three branches of the Haeseni culture; Hanso-Raev, Hanso-Waldeni, and Hanso-Scyfa. Hanso meaning the Haense version of these brackets of culture, and the main influence of the culture being Raevir, Waldenian and Scyflings. Though in this journal we will be focusing on the influence of Hanso-Waldeni.

With that it is presented Ve Hauruln I Moda: The Knowledge of Fashion

BEGINNING OF WALDENIAN CULTURE

Long ago, upon the continent of Athera, a group called the Order of Saint Lucien was disbanded by the Mother Church. Within time, a large portion of the members of the Order were left idle and discontented with the rest of humanity on the continent.

Thus causing the creation of their own Kingdom within the north region, which was founded as the Kingdom of Aesterwald. Whilst the Waldenian culture was prevalent before the creation, it can mainly be traced back to and related to Aesterwald.

HEADWEAR AND HAIR STYLES

There are a plethora of ways to style your hair, but the following stylings are some of the more notable styles with the Haeseni court;

Kruseler

The Kruseler is a Waldenian styled headpiece of linen and lace, usually worn by the merchant-class of nobility or women who are older and married. It is often worn day to day in casual wear. Underneath is usually neatly nested braids or a simple bun.

Schleier

A similar styled veil, usually adorned with a woven circlet or in cases of royalty, a crown. The type of material will depend on class with wool being most common and followed closely by hemp and linen. Naturally, they come in white but they can be seen in other colors.

Common hairstyles of current are neatly formed buns, or into a hairstyle referred to as Doppelgelfecht which is similarly known as a double braid coming from braided crowns. For men, it is common to style the hair in a simple manner. Longer hair is fine, and in Raev fashion fur hats are also admired.

DRESS & ATTIRE

Stylage of a Queen and a Princess or a woman of high nobility

Loose fitting dresses are usually cinched by what is referred to as a Hüftgürtel which is the hip belt that in lower nobility would be simple woven tuft and in higher nobility; gold or silver link. Many layers are paired with the gowning and is usually matched with the aforementioned Schleier.

Stylage of a King and Prince or a man of high nobility

Pointed shoes on Lords and Ladies are similarly appreciated, and are usually paired with the common Beinlinge on men which are the tights seen depicted above.  These tights during the summer can be made from thinner fabric, but within the winter months - they are commonly thick wool. Men also can be seen donning a Doublet which is a puffy style of tunic that is usually lined with fur.  It is common for men of higher nobility to wear brighter colors and are found also with layers of cloaks - showing their wealth.

Stylage of a Lord and Lady

Lords and Ladies are styled similarly with the nuances from above, but with less cloaking and colors that are a tad duller than the ones of high nobility. The Doublet  that men wear are a tad thinner and the dresses ladies don are less intricate in pattern and change of color.

Stylage of the Merchant class

Within the ranks of the middle class, the styling of a lady are very similar to those above - the only difference being the materials donned to craft it. Men, however, can be found in longer loose fitting tunics of more common colors.  Still paired, of course, with the pointed shoe.

Sigmund Ludovar reads the stylage of the Waldenians before he began to wonder to himself  "It's interesting to see the Waldenian influences from Her Majesty's Reinmarian heritage. However, I hope the courts will soon highlight and publish our own cultural styles over the Reinmarian ones."
