VE ELDERVIK,

It was with great pleasure that this research was conducted, as well as the ideas presented forth on this subject. It was first the Koenas Isabel of Valwyck that instituted dance culture into the Haeseni people, and to this day  the heartiness and soul of dance lives still within its people.

With that in mind, it is presented: Ve Haurlun I Dans, or The Knowledge of Dance.

VE KAROSKAROSDANS

The Honor Crows Dance

[A set of Haeseni denizens during KHOVALAFEST, dancing to celebrate Gorm the mythical being]

Recently established by the Crow Warden, Firress Mahaut van Leuven, this dance has been linked with the celebration of Khovalafest. It is now the celebration and appeasement of the mythical figure Gorm, who is depicted as a three-eyed crow.

It is with this that the Karoskarosdans was formed, as a way to thank such a figure for a plentiful harvest; as well as to mimic the flight of a murder of crows.

It is found in sets of three, homage to the three eyes of Gorm, and is an upbeat dance in which the participants don attire that mimic the animal. It is with that the dance turns slightly into a game, where the participants will dance in their link as the music picks up tempo. It is of the idea the link must stay entwined, and if fallen apart they must step off the dance floor.

Spoiler

OOC MECH:

  • All players will get into groups of three, two can also be accepted if not enough players apply
  • One person will manage the game and the music will begin.
  • All groups must roll out of 100 and the team with the lowest score of the three players combined is out

ZWEIN BECEN

[An En Plein painting of dancers mid turn performing the ZWEIN DECEN at a wedding feast]

As dancing is intended for lighthearted and jovial celebrations, it also brings together two people for a more intimate and personal connection.

Often performed during wedding festivities or Juliyafest celebrations, the Zwein Becen is a dance that allows for a pairing of dancers to clasp hands and jump to the rhythm of an upbeat melody. Dancers performing the Zwein Becen will often be seen clasping hands, looping arms and interacting with their partner in a fast-paced performance.

The music which is typically paired with such dance is often to the discretion of the musician, although a fun game is often had between the dancers and musicians where the changing of the beat will call for a different direction for the dancers to quickly be made. The ending of the dance will be sudden and abrupt to keep the dancers on their toes. It is said that the longer the pair dancing the Zwein Decen lasts without mistake, the stronger their relationship will become.

Spoiler

OOC MECH:

  • Players will get in partners of two
  • One person will oversee the groups participating
  • Each round will consist of a roll in which everyone will roll out of 20
  • The combined partner score must equate to the score the person overseeing states for that round
    • Ex: “Roll out of 20, your score together must meet a 28”

VE DANS CAEZK  MAAN

The Dance to Honor Death

[A group of Haeseni women mourning a loss in a celebration of life]

It is often during mourning or All Hallow’s Eve that the Dance to Honor Death is done as a means to celebrate the recent passing of a family member or passed ancestors. Women and men will dress commonly in black or pure white.

This dance is a group dance, and is quite mellow in terms of melody and movement; comparatively similar to the Waltz.

People can either dance together or within a circle, depending on the occasion, and represent a melancholy state. It is also common for women to wear black veils over their faces to remain unseen during such dances, so as to not distract from the quiet mourning and to protect themselves from spirits that might be frequenting the event.

Davyd was walking down the streets of New Valdev when he was grabbed by a nearby friend who informed him of his wife's recent publishing. Just mere seconds later he was reading gleefully while speaking to a certain Weiss @CasChaos. "I have always envied her you know." He said thoughtfully before he continued with a soft smile on his lips. "Not in a bad way. But, she really is talented." -- "Now, how about we try out this 'Karoskarosdans' was it?" Not long after he hit his close friend right in the ribs with his elbow, but that was a story for another time.

Mahaut held her own copy of the missive in hand as she continued to pore over texts older than she. “Perhaps some new dance lessons are in order,” she spoke to no one in particular, although, it was a glimpse of withdrawn pride nonetheless.

Although not a dancer at heart, Tatiyana of Vidaus would find herself practicing the steps to Ve Karoskarosdans in the off chance a certain Colborn would shove her onto the dance floor again.
