I do wonder why they consider Templars in the same vein as Naz'therak, Heralds and Necromancers? That seems a bit odd. I understand not being able to become an inquisitor as a templar but to equate the two? I guess it'll show Tah's not playing around. He wants ALL of the smoke, and hates everyone.

Though had meant to find time to write an entry myself, knowing I might naught find the time to;
has found myself no less excited, and hoping this is considered & passed Johann!

There's so many lovely submissions so far, and I can't wait to see which will
be picked, and which will have the pleasure of joining in potentially!

anyway as a serious response. i'm a huge fan of this interpretation of Tahariaen magic.

My only issues are that you're calling the mana system "Embers" again. Which I wouldn't want in a new holy magic, personally. I want to see holy magics move away from Paladinism terms and themes.

A lot of the spells seem to be reworked spells and mechanics from Paladinism and their mists. Which can be cool in the right context. But I fear it might be taken as you trying to bring back Paladinism.

But other than those, I am a huge fan of the theming of this lore and the magic in general.

Hi wooz. Appreciate the response! I can totally see why the magic could be seen that way, given I did write paladinism before.

My #1 priority when I wrote out this magic has always been to try and figure out a paladin successor (premier HOLY magic, someone you call to deal with a spook) without any of bloat paladin had, and try and focus it more on a spellsword approach which I HOPE I was able to achieve; I also made a lot of care to make sure there was room for a holymage niche. Inquisitors were the result of this, and IMO they're vastly different from paladins in their priorities as well as their playstyles. There's only so much I can do with a new holymagic to not make it seem "paladin-themed" since paladin was THE holymagic and stepped on so many toes, so I don't think it's really fair to say this is just a paladin rehash - I know this better than anyone else and assure you I'm not lazy enough to recycle what's already gone.

If you wanted an actual comparison: Paladins were all about Xan's mission, killing dragons and darkos, and had two dedicated branches for dpsing and tanking whereas Inquisitors don't have any significant healing, nor branches, nor any similar spells as paladin, and use their lambence, which I've time and time again stated is ephemeral and vastly more potent than the mists but also far more fragile and expensive to cast. Their ritualistic and noncombative focuses are also mostly hinged around Tah's purityfire which functions mechanically and metaphysically v differently from the mists paladins had which acted as a bit of a catchall bandaid fixeroo energysource. In terms of priorities and mindset they are also a lot more independent in their laserfocused approach to dispense Tah's justice and enforcing purity which is nothing like the Xanmongering against dragons paladins used to do. There's alot more leeway to who an Inquisitor's enemy could be, given their Aengul's hateboner for everyone, which opens the doors for a lot of future possibilities that are entirely up to how the future Inquisitor playerbase would handle it.

Hopefully my response suffices - I'll change embers to lux because I promise you I couldn't come up with a better name 😭
