Crevel 7561 Share Posted September 1, 2024 A Missive to the People A Dignified Letter from Robert Tiberius Alstion Spoiler TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE REALM AND BEYOND, When the Lord demands the sweat of our brow, who are we to refuse? God, acting through his messenger, the aengulic Raguel, saw fit to see that the Pearl of the East - our beloved capital - was set ablaze. Many may see this as divine retribution. They would be right. Distinct individuals of our nation, including the former king, have flagellated the common man atop a pillar of marble. Whitespire stood as a testament to the proclivities of royalty. A wall of marble, surrounding buildings of marble. A feigned appearance of purity and innocence. Yet, that is what it is: feigned. The city’s deterioration has shown us the truth. Decadence. Debauchery. Depravity. It is not our apostolic kingdom that found itself wrought by divine retribution, it was the primary holding of our most regal Alstions who have of late displayed themselves to be not of monarchs, but of tyrants. Particularly of Charles II, my deposed brother. While I would not hope it is true, perhaps the reckoning of Whitespire, including the Hand of Horen, after Charles’ removal from the throne is a mark of retribution on Charles’ line as a whole which would indicate a divine disapproval in the uncoronated Godwin’s future reign as king. It is clear that our royalty must venture closer to God. Lest we anger Him, and lest we forsake our citizenry. A ruling Alstion must be of the people, and not above the people. This much is clear. A king does not rule by the power they wield. A king’s authority derives from the obligation that he holds to his people. That is to say, a king serves his people by upholding their shared customs, traditions, and laws. If you look to the Exalted, you will see that is what has always been, and in the future you will see that is what it will always be. Any ruler who sees fit to place themselves above the needs of their people is a tyrant, and not a true king. In the near future, I shall see fit to speak to the Church in regards to the future of our kingdom and its role in Canondom. Further, I shall also be committing myself to firefighting efforts to extinguish as much of the fire that remains in the city so that those who evacuated are able to return to their homes and attempt to recover what remains of their belongings within the cinders. Henceforth, I shall also be referring to the city of Whitespire as Blackspire to recognise the changing times. I welcome any who wish to assist with the firefighting efforts and to make a safe path for any wishing to traverse the ruins. Java17 2216 Share Posted September 1, 2024 Amako sat at a table, peering over the letter that was passed to her by a friend. Her head finally rose from the paper, "Tell me. How does one detail corruption and idleness so vividly and yet refuse to acknowledge their own part of it?" she asked, and yet received no answer. "Odd."
valecu 2128 Share Posted September 1, 2024 “He is right, our realm was founded on the basis of many legal links and contributions between the Crown, the Nobles and People. He who forgets, loses his dominion.” Many such comments were heard from this particular Matriarch, that shed tears for her Kingdom.

Fleeperpriest 1484 Share Posted September 1, 2024 "A hero of such regal, Robertine gravity may be just what this Kingdom needs." contemplates the man-they-called Fleeper, who they called also High Priest, that kvetchous shepherd, he, ever seeking in his hope the jubilant means by which may be restored the dignity of Man; there was no more certain-sure a way to do it than by the methods of Saint Caius, tried and true. "Clover," spoke the man, codeswitching, "forget, perhaps, what I had said of the dissolution of the council-- I think I should have a man for the job." @bumblefina
