PALATIAL REPORT:

THE 1ST SCOUTING OF AILMERE

OUR INITIAL EXCURSION INTO THE TREACHEROUS TUNDRA OF AILMERE HAS BEEN COMPLETED. And with this inaugural mission, a great deal of information has been collected, allowing us to better inform the Haeseni people on the threats lingering just beyond our kingdom’s borders.

 

The scouting company was as follows:

◆ Lord Karl Weiss, Viscount of Novkursain & Sergeant of the BSK
◆ Ser Joakim Colborn, Knight of the Marian Retinue & Lieutenant of the BSK

◆ Firress Mara Vanir,  Initiate of the BSK

◆ Firress Rosalyn Yvaine,  Initiate of the BSK

◆ Firr Marcus Valeria, a volunteer.

 

First, we journeyed east from the capital city, traveling through the Ferdenwald and onward to the banks of the icy Lake Georg. Heading along the eastern coastline, we passed beneath the shadow of Castle Mortreskvan–the seat of House Ruthern–and ventured into the small passes that comprise Ailmere’s foremost region. It was there, nestled amidst craggy rocks and heavy drifts, our party happened upon an abandoned keep. It had clearly been devoid of life for some time–the small huts gathered about its walls half-taken by the perpetual snowfall. The front gates were wrought open and a parchment had been nailed to a post, littered with pagan runes. Further venturing into that courtyard affirmed its abandonment, and Firr Marcus Valeria revealed the name of that castle: DISTRUGESTADT, once owned by a man known as the ‘the Baron’. Being so near to several of our vassal lands, we have marked this keep as a place of interest for future inspection.

 

At the suggestion of Firress Mara Vanir, our party ventured deeper into the heart of Ailmere–in search of a previous settlement of darkspawn lurking in the north: LUMBRIDGE. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a thickened miasma that obscured our view of the looming fortress overhead. We ventured onward in spite of that strange mist, seeking  to atleast venture towards the gatehouse and ascertain any potential points of entry. However, we were instead greeted by the disembodied spirit of our former tavernkeep, Nataya Rykov. I exchanged words with this lost soul, who had found home amidst those others who dwelled within that haven of Xionism. The promise of future conflict was left upon their doorstep. 

 

We departed understanding that the undeath that lingers in those lands is far greater than we initially anticipated, all hidden within a mighty frozen stronghold. It is my intention to uncover those secrets and bring the halls of Xion to a crumbling fall.

 

Upon my return to Neu Valdev, I have called for the following actions to be taken:

 

◆ TO ARM THE CITIZENS: 

The Lady Palatine has tasked Firress Mara Vanir and Firr Mahpiya Wakajazi with the mass production of potions and auric oils, to be sold and distributed to the Haeseni people for their personal protection. It is the hope that in the cases of further darkspawn attacks, our citizens will be capable of self-defense when not otherwise leant aid by the Brotherhood of Saint Karl or the Marian Retinue.

 

◆ A SCOUTING CAMP: 

The Lady Palatine has tasked the Lord Marshal, Ilya Ivanovich, to seek out potential plots of land near to the border between Ailmere and Hanseti-Ruska where a scouting camp might be established. The intention of this is to allow future scouting parties to easily coordinate within this location and provide some respite from the bitter frontier of this northern climate.

Mara of Kraken's Watch sat in her newly anointed guildhall, overseeing the comings and goings of her crew; men and women of the Kraken Company busied themselves with the mining of ores, the gathering of herbs, and the forging of weapons for the Crown. The forces of the Brotherhood and the Marian Retinue would not be ill-equipped for the coming war.
