In my opinion if you kill the god with the most wide-spread ability to purge curses, then the natural consequence is that magics with cursing spells become stronger as a result, as there are fewer magics out there who can combat them. It's a consequence of the roleplay and killing a god. I do think Heralds should get more love but I don't think that Azdrazi-adjacent magics should just gain paladin abilities to fill the niche.

Anyways has anyone seen a white deer in their backyard recently?

This, and also, I didn't take the final event or anything that happened to Azdromoth in the epilogue posts as him "fusing" with Xan in a tangible, meaningful way outside of inheriting his realm. Otherwise there would be no need for him to change his realm into something of his own or even become the daemon of fate to begin with.

Granted it says in his new lore page he inherited his mantle. But I don't see a point in giving Azdrazi paladin flavored things when they spent centuries fighting eachother. Would just kinda seem like a spit in the face to everything they did. At least that's how my azdrazi would take it.

It fits very well into the new theme of the Azdrazi and might help encourage shifts in roleplay mindsets. Maybe soon we will join The Good Guys™.... right?

It doesent change the fact that azdrazi dragonsflame has natural anti-corruption properties.

As per the changes in the lore I discussed with Deer, the point is to make this ability azdrazi-themed, distancing it from any holy magic ability.

This isn’t a wash of cleansing light, you’re effectively performing a lengthy blood ritual that sets someone on fire and covers them in burns, the spell name effectively means “curse-breaker” - and I believe that the spell retains well to current Azdrazi aesthetic and lore.

Neither does it feel like a spit in the face. Azdrazi have historically and still do hunt darkspawn. Your Azdrazi may be evil but that’s not the majority. There’s a longstanding approach to purging darkness through fire in Azdrazi culture since their very inception - and this purging spell is just another way of making that tangible. If I’m being honest, this spell should always have been existed. Consider it Azdrazi corruption purging but used on humans - which naturally, takes an extensive, painful, burning toll on the recipient.

I mean I get that Jentos. I'm just saying; IC wouldn't it feel like a spit in the face to most Nephilim that you start getting explicit Xan powers after centuries of him warring your species, all dragons and specifically wanting to kill Azdromoth???

I'm fine with the ritual, I just don't see the need for it to be a purely Nephilim one just because "Azdromoth fused with Xan."

We’ve been able to cure corruption before. And neither is Xan the only one that can break curses. It’s a purely Nephilim ability that should have been available long ago - not because Azdromoth fused with Xan (either way, the reaction would be something like “ok neat I can do this now”). My last comment instead makes reference of an innate ability of Dragonsflame to burn away corruption - not some Xan given power. I will repeat it again but this spell has been specifically made to be an Azdrazi spell - not some paladin 2.0 spell because that’s specifically not what Azdrazi are meant to be. It’s not a wash of light that cures corruption. You are burning someone alive to rid them of corruption just like we rid Nephilim of corruption now.

I see. Okay, that assuages my narrative worries then. Once again I will state that I have no problem with the ritual by itself. Just the apparent narrative contradiction I was assuming to exist. :b
