Deer__ 1558 Share Posted October 21, 2024 Chagar-uz [3 Emotes: Freeform] (Non-combative) Description Once per day two Ordained Heralds or one Nephilim may purge corruption from mortal men and long accursed relics. The target shall be placed or stood within a rhombus nestled within a circle. Such a shape shall be drawn upon the earth in the blood of a draconic being, or the draan from two Ordained Heralds. The ritual must be preformed in the presence of a drakeshrine or similar temple, lest it be reserved to the times of dusk and dawn. Likewise, whether the target is an object or living being, another object of personal value to one of the participants will be marked with draan or dragons blood. This item will be destroyed in place of the object being cleansed, as it takes on the curse briefly before being obliterated. Those conducting the rite will then utter a phrase in either High or Low Draconic, calling for the circle to bind the curse laid within the target object or individual. This marking upon the ground, be it in blood or draan, will begin to ignite much like a Herald's branding as they invoke their words of power. The individual being purged will begin to feel a sensation within them, as if their insides began to roil and churn as like water coming to a rolling boil. The markings upon the ground eventually catch flame, rising higher and higher until they consume the target. The target will begin to burn, feeling immense pain. Individuals being purged will be left with a scar upon the area previously afflicted seared upon their flesh while the item they offered up, destroyed. Should the target have been an item in the first place, it will simply be destroyed. Spoiler Affects the following: - Mysticism hexes and spectral possession - Naztherak curses and malflame burns - Necromancy cursed trinkets - Witch Doctor hexes - Voidstalker second mind Redlines: - The Ritual of Purging has a minimum emote count of three, but is freeform and may take more. So long as the fire is coalesced and funneled into the target’s core. - This ritual may not be used in combat. - If the malediction is full body, 80% of the body will be left with burns. If it only affects a limb, only that limb will be burned. etc. - The item sacrificed should be something of sentimental value to the character. An object from a past life, gifts from friends or family, a wedding band, etc. - The sacrificed item must have significant roleplay/sentimental value. This is fairly freeform but should it be found to be abused, it is grounds for punishment from the Story Team. - The scar left may diminish with time or alchemy but it will always be there to some degree. - The ritual does not affect Necromancy plagues. - Requires one Nephilim to lead and either an ordained herald or another Nephilim to assist. - The target must be either fully restrained or entirely willing. - Cannot purge disease or poison, only supernatural maledictions. - Must be entirely sure there is a curse of hex to be cleansed. - This must be taught to heralds as with all herald abilities. - Its effects of event-related curses are left to the discretion of the overseeing Event Team Actor. Purpose: Spoiler Since the fall of Xan and the loss of paladins, the world has been left with very little in the way of options to cleanse these curses. Since Azdromoth consumed Xan I also figured it'd be fitting to hand that power of Xan's over to Nephilim. It really is that simple. Implementation: All Ordained Heralds and Nephilim who are able to wield Heraldic words of power will be able to use this ritual off rip. New Ordained Heralds after this is implemented must learn it as normal for Heraldry. Credit:@Jentos (Consultation and ideas) Thanks for the feedback below as well, all. Changelog: + Necro cursed trinkets to the destruction list + Destroys the item being purged, if the target of the rite is an item. + Witch Doctor hexes to the list + Naz burns (This was intended I just clarified specifically) - Nephilim Addition + Herald Addition (Useable by both ORDAINED and NEPHILIM) +- Redid the entire ritual process
Jentos 9425 Share Posted October 21, 2024 Considering the shift in Azdromoth's nature, as well as the anti-magic/dark magic effects of dragonsflames, this amendment makes sense. The only thing to consider is if azdrazi as a whole need this addition or if it borders too much on other themes. Personally I'm not against it, albeit the use of a second could make this tedious. I'd rather a cool sort of prescribed ritual (akin to something out of a grimoire) to use because I'm really into those and I think that they are neat.
meowmaxer 766 Share Posted October 21, 2024 Building off of what Jentos said, perhaps make it more in tune with other things already in the lore? Like how ascension after one completes their Wardren trials basically burns away the previous soul / person, this could potentially burn the impure item away too

Yh he also has a bit of Xan in him now 2 if I’m not mistaken. So it’d make sense for Azdrazi to inherently adapt to some new abilities like this

FlemishSupremacy 6115 Share Posted October 21, 2024 +1 I think currently a lot of curses can ONLY be removed by shamans, which leaves you with precious few options if you're not in their good graces.

Java17 2216 Share Posted October 21, 2024 I am hesitant on adding anything to the CA and it's affiliated magics but maybe this would fit better for ordained heralds instead.

Honestly this. I feel like it would add more to the Heralds as they are also more "common" and less spells. Azdrazi have already a lot going on, perhaps giving more love to Heralds could be better!
Ryanark 2738 Share Posted October 21, 2024 It fits very well into the new theme of the Azdrazi and might help encourage shifts in roleplay mindsets. Maybe soon we will join The Good Guys™.... right?
