Arcane Scion:

Connection 

The Voidal Capabilities of the user are as well limited with the invocation of the rite. The Voidal Connection becomes much less unstable, and caps the user at casting spells and modifiers Tier 3 or below, with a much smaller mana pool- half that of normal. Furthermore, with a maximum of a six-meter range for a spellcasts, the arsenal of a Scion is somewhat limited without inflicting self harm- something they are not immune to, and are much more susceptible to given their close range. Aswell, one still requires focusing- albeit minor- to cast their magic. 

 

An Arcane Scion may not make use of Arcane Foci. The range of a Scion will remain capped at [6] meters and may not be increased by other means.

 

An Arcane Scion's Voidal Connection is much more subtle and unperverted, which allows them to utilize Voidal Magics with a much less debilitating degree. At the exchange of a much more stable and sustainable voidal connection, it is significantly weaker and far less volatile than the standard Voidal Mage - hence why their manapools are halved, and spells, limited to Tier 3 or below.

 

Redlines

-Scions may only cast spells or use modifiers that are T1-T3 in nature - they may not utilize T4/T5 Modifiers, nor downcast T4/T5 Spells where would otherwise be possible.

Mental Effects

-Halfplate is defined as whatever it may be defined as in Voidal Connection lore. Armaments Techlock.

-Siliti Those with Altered Souls, such as Inferi and Siliti, may not become Scions.

 

Purpose

After Much Debate in the ST Discord, the final verdict was that Scions cannot utilize anything beyond T3, including downcasted spells or modifiers - this is a attempt to write such into the page while also doing a little tidying up of who can’t be a Scion, and Armor Terms

Guys. I think it would be easier to shelf voidal magics. Just think of it. We wouldn’t be confused, and there would be less voidal mages. I’m onto something I think

yeah if this change was actually to be made we need to completely reverse the enwreathe changes which added blue fire and combustion enwreathe with the idea that scions can use these modifiers, this is entirely an imagined and conjured problem by you guys grilling ST who dont use voidal magic for consistent answers that should be implicit and obvious and have been personally told to you by squakhawk, but somehow u all gaslit urselves to this point thats crazy

After a lengthy discussion with the LT, as well as taking into account the debates in the story lore discord, we've come to the conclusion that this amendment is not needed. Additionally, scion modifiers are only specifically allowed for @sam33497and nobody else. Thank you for your lore submission nonetheless.

This is already being enforced by ST - writing it into the lore page doesn't seem needless

 

Half the issues with scions don't originate from Scions - they're range was 12m because arcane foci are stupidly easy to make and use, so removing compatibility with them instead of re-addressing the range in general caused its own set of problems, which will remain in any re-write that allows usage of arcane foci.

 

I'm not opposed to a re-write and I've already been working on several, but in the meantime I would rather the enforced rules be written on the page then just say "rewrite scion!" and not even admit the actual things being enforced.
