Mushrooms & Mayhem

A comprehensive guide to the plants surrounding the land of Jun Lei and Koyo Kuni.

The enchanted forests within Aevos’s lands seem mystical, a magical biome filled with whimsical and wonderous plants and animals. Yet, what of the mayhem in the land as well? Good or bad, this is lore to put names to some plants already around the land, as well as make new lore for interesting flora!

Giant’s Snow Cap

The second smallest of the mushroom family most prominent in the dark forest, these mushrooms have sturdy and thick stalks that thin near the top, connecting with the bell of the mushroom. The stems have black markings that seem almost like indents, emitting a feeble cloud of spores in the dead of night. The bell of the mushroom is a light gray, with a sharp curve traveling inside. The tops of these bells are dusted with bright white spores, looking akin to snow.

Furthermore, these mushrooms thrive in the shadows, most particularly in the night.

The stems of these mushrooms are edible, but the spores when inhaled in a large number are able to cause a mild allergic reaction of: Sneezing, coughing, sore throat, and teary eyes. Due to the large size of the mushroom, it would take knocking the mushroom down to disturb enough spores to cause a reaction.

Spoiler

Redlines

  • Cannot be used to kill, severely harm, or injure someone in any way.
  • Allergies are only an inconvenience, and allergy symptoms set in after 3 active emotes of inhalation of the spores. Furthermore, the spores are not deadly in any way; they only cause mild allergic reactions.
  • Stem and meat of the mushroom is not deadly, and stems can be used for aesthetic purposes.
  • Spore’s allergic symptoms can be mitigated with a cloth mask
  • If around the spores for more than 3 active emotes the allergies will become a condition that will last for 1 - 2 ooc hours. This is only at 8 active emotes though. Symptoms in between 3 -8 active emotes can be interpreted by players.

Alchamia

A lopsided mushroom that is of moderate size, and about the tallest or second tallest in this specific mushroom family. This mushroom is likely an offshoot of the Giant’s Snowcap due to its dark-marked stem and bell-like caps.

The difference between these two is that these are curved, and are commonly seen with three differing caps of three different sizes. There are also light blue splotches on these caps, the caps themselves being completely harmless, and can be processed into a lovely blue color for painting or clothing dye by cutting off the colored splotch and cooking it down. drying the mixture, then adding water or keeping it in its concentrated state without drying. These mushrooms CAN be eaten, but taste horrible, like rotten meat, so they should not be used in cooking… unless you hate someone. These mushrooms also have minimal spores, that may cause a sneeze or two if a mushroom is cut down.

These mushrooms got their name as the blue dye was commonly used to write the labels on alchemy bottles! Some would call it “Alchemy Blue” - which then was misheard as Alchamia, and it stuck.

Spoiler

Redlines

  • The splotches can be eaten as well as the rest of the mushroom, but taste horrible.
  • The dye will work like any other dye, only difference is a vibrant blue color that is not similar to other blue dyes.
  • Spores will not cause any harm to others and can be completely ignored.
  • If the dye is splashed onto cloth, wood, or a person, it will take 2 - 3 emotes of active cleaning to rid someone or something of the stain.

King Killer

A mushroom of decent width but not height. These are the most deadliest of the mushrooms listed. These have mottled stalks with a long bell-like cap with what looks like strings coming down and white splotches on them.

These mushrooms get their name from an ancient use that was once had. The King Killer’s cap has the properties of a perhaps deadly concoction when rendered down and added to a dish. This concoction, once about half a shot glass worth of it is consumed, will render someone extremely ill, unable to hold down food or water for 1-2 ooc hours. Medical intervention will be needed, but it is not entirely rare for someone to survive the sickness.

Alchemia [Red Variant]

These mushrooms are an offshoot of the regular Alchemia mushroom, though instead of a lovely blue due to the red parts of the cap can be processed into a deep crimson dye which is safe to eat, but horrible in taste (Tastes of rotten eggs and iron). They have also become much sturdier, and are great for building supports.

Spoiler

Redlines

  • The cap can be eaten as well as the rest of the mushroom but tastes horrible.
  • The dye will work like any other dye, only difference is a vibrant red color that is not similar to other red dyes.
  • Spores will not cause any harm to others and can be completely ignored.
  • If the dye is splashed onto cloth, wood, or a person, it will take 2 - 3 emotes of active cleaning to rid someone or something of the stain.
  • The stems of this variant can be used as building supports or walls. They have the same strength as stones when it comes to weight and impact capabilities.

Kaga Lightshrooms

AD_4nXd-V6YnUWSzrJhK8KbYP1wq4740ymPsMIrMl7_Szk2t-PPD1j3StBeCdTZV2Rjm63lk3tn7QTw0Xz_uNPSfJTio93Gm6Pek_sa2vsWBErtFRXE57nOasUW-zutDQxDLecWNkmBANQ?key=RUlxfAX51Xqp8d2Pm3qPw1sk

These mushrooms are the most unique out of all the ones inhabiting the dark forest. While the smallest in the family of mushrooms. These mushrooms look crystalline in nature, with blue stems and purple, flat caps atop them. Kaga Lightshrooms are also the hardest mushrooms, their composition is more the feeling and strength of stone than mushroom. These caps have long string-like pieces that seem to gently emit light.

These strings can be harvested and set in lanterns to make great lights at home.

Another large use of Kaga Lightshrooms is with the mushroom itself. The stem of the mushroom can be shaved off, giving someone a powdery substance that can be snorted or smoked. This substance would give a user a strong reaction, creating vivid imagery of colors in prism-like patterns, as well as lights seeming much brighter than they are. The effects of said substance can be determined by the player and their persona’s drug tolerance.

Spoiler

Redlines

  • Lights taken from Kaga Glowshrooms are seen as ender rods in MC.
  • The substance from these mushrooms cannot physically harm a person behind the scope of what repeated drug use might for any other substance.
  • When under the substance effects stated above are constant, only colors change from person to person.
  • The brightness of lights will not blind someone, simply makes bright lights uncomfortable for the time being,

General Redlines

Spoiler
  • All of these mushrooms are the spice of life and are not here to be used inherently in combat. King killer can kill, but only if someone is actively trying to let themselves die due to it.
  • All mushrooms stated cannot be used in combat,
  • All mushrooms are technically edible, but some are not recommended.
