FOR A GREAT MANY YEARS, I have watched my son and heir, ACHILLIUS ARTEMISIO D’ARKENT, grow as both a person and a leader. Not only has he risen to represent his House with all the grace and wisdom that a future Duke should, but he has also shown his strength and capabilities as Balian’s own Constable.

 

WITH THE BLESSING OF HIS Royal Majesty, it has been seen fit to restore to the House d’Arkent one of its ancient familial titles: The Barony of Selm. This Barony was first held by our House’s founder, JOHN D’ARKENT, who was a renowned politician and Knight of the Holy Orenian Empire. Although he and the Empire he served are long gone, his legacy lives on through his d’Arkent descendents, and I believe my Achillius perfectly encompasses his predecessor’s legacy and ambitions. 

 

THUS, LET IT BE KNOWN: Until Achillius d’Arkent becomes the Duke of Sunholdt by rite of my abdication or death, he shall be known as the BARON OF SELM, to lead his kin and serve his Kingdom as faithfully as his ancestors have.

A brilliant grin crossed Laurelie's visage as she bore witness to the missive regarding her husband's ascension into the ranks of peerage. Incredibly proud of all he's come to accomplish over the years, this was yet another momentous occasion that they would doubtlessly look back on fondly. She gently rocked her youngest daughter that was held securely in her grasp, the pair taking in the fresh air upon the highest terrace of Sunholdt.
