An Unjust Taxation

To the Grand Steward and newly appointed Iron Baron,

Upon my return from a long and hard mining run to support our kingdom in this war, I was greeted with a most unwelcome sight. A tax-notice was left upon my door, stating that my taxes have been doubled under your new leadership as Iron Baron. This news comes as a tug to the beard after decades of hard work for the kingdom. I find it disgraceful that after all this time, after all the minas I've contributed, my home is now subject to such an unreasonable increase.

I have lived in this house for many decades, long before the title of Iron Baron was thrust upon you. I have paid my taxes promptly, and in fact, I have always paid in advance, going beyond what was required of me. My hard-earned profits from mining have gone to this kingdom, and I have always believed in the promise that Elder Clan Frostbeard would be given the land we deserve. But where is that promise now? It has been delayed, ignored, and seemingly forgotten.

Instead of receiving the land we were promised, I return to find my taxes unjustly raised by your greed. My property, my home, that was built by years of blood, sweat, and tears! I will not allow ANY Iron Baron, to ROB ME of what is rightfully mine, especially when this sudden increase is fueled by nothing more than a thirst for more minas.

If this house is indeed to be classified as part of the inn, then fine, I shall respect that. I will end my payments to the kingdom, and there for pay the inn a fair and reasonable amount of 30 minas per stone week. But doubling my taxes to 60 MINAS? This is an insult, and I will not stand for it.

I demand this be addressed immediately. If this situation is not corrected and the greed of your office continues unchecked, I will have no choice but to take further action.

Bostone Grimgold penned a quick response to the former iron baron, dictating the full extent of the verbal contract he had agreed to at the start of his reign as iron baron.

"Dear Rhorgvar Frostbeard, former Iron Baron of Urguan,

Strictly speaking, the tavern room has had this stipulation on it for the entire lifespan of the tavern's current iteration on this continent. If you are iron baron, it rests at 30 mina; otherwise, as a citizen, it is 60. If you are the most recent iron baron, but the current iron baron does not request the room, you can keep the price until the current baron expresses interest in the space, then the price is doubled to its usual non-baron rate. This is not a personal attack, but a simple clause issued on the house itself. Should you wish to stay, your price will remain as is, unless the current iron baron wishes to give you the location for its normal price, otherwise, other locations and homes are open for you to take up if you cannot or will not pay the current price of 60 mina per stone week. You will experience no pushback if you wish to claim and renovate another home to your liking."

A note would be nailed against the door to the Iron Barons' Rooms, which the Former Iron Baron doesn't wish to leave, within the Inn.
