Thank you to the folks from the Covenant who helped me with some lyrics! Art: Battle of Grunwald by Jan Matejko (1878) Information on the original song: "Which Side Are You On?" is a famous union protest song written in 1931 by Florence Reece, the wife of a coal miner and union organizer in Harlan County, Kentucky. She wrote the song during the Harlan County War, a violent struggle between coal miners and anti-union forces backed by coal companies. After her house was stormed and ransacked by the pro-company workers, she wrote the words upon a calendar that hung on her wall. The song's lyrics challenge workers to choose a side. Either stand with the union for fair wages and better conditions, or with the bosses who exploit them. It became a powerful anthem for labor movements, civil rights protests, and other social justice causes.
