I — ON THE CROWN OF BALIAN

 

I do hereby make public, not formalice or hatred, nor out of ingratitude, that I denounce King John II and the Kingdom of Balian, and once again reaffirm, as I have in my own blood many times before, that I remain GOD’s servant on this earth, til breath no longer enters my body.

 

II — ON THE ASHFORD STRUGGLE

 

I do hereby make public my denunciation of the false Ashfords, whom King John and the Kingdom of Balian upheld as rightful heirs to the House of Savoy. Moreover, be it known and affirmed henceforth and forevermore, that I do acknowledge the Ashford House of Rouen as the true and sole successors to the House of Bar, and rightful patriarchs of the Ashford line.

 

III — ON THE PEOPLES OF BALIAN

 

I do hereby publicly call upon those who still seek asylum within the Kingdom of Balian to beyond its borders, that they might be spared the reckoning which is to soon be delivered unto those who do not reconcile with our holy mother church.

Let this missive serve as my humble plea for the repentance of my immortal soul, and for he mercy upon the frailty of this mortal flesh. Moreover, I solemnly avow to seek out a priest, that my sins may be laid bare before GOD.

[!] However, before he had spread the missive for people in Balian, Estevot added a hidden message, with lemon juice, solely for the missive sent to Kathryn and John, with a secret message, only found if they attempt to burn it in their understandable anger over what happened to him. The act of finding it, however, was up to them.

Anyone who is furious with me, you are right to be. But be assured, this denouncement is not my true thoughts or words,  for they were written by another's hand, not my own. I apologize for the stress, but know that I will take great care to make sure that I will make up for this tenfold. Do not give in just yet, there is a path to salvation for us. Though we may lose the nation, Balian is not a place, it's a people, a culture. And so long as you are all able to survive, then Balian shall live on. Remember that.

Estevot himself had managed to leave Alba and get his mother's old clothes and whatnot for her. As he is about to head out, he stumbles upon his old apartment. He carefully opens the rotted wooden door to see where he had spent a good few years of his life with his family. It wasn't long, but it was happy. He broke down in tears, falling to the floor, praying to GOD to forgive him for putting his friends and family through the stress of thinking he had given up on his principles. He prepared for the storm that was coming, and he headed back on the road.
