Aesopian 1639 Rep Farm Share Posted May 24, 2025 Quote One by one, she lit each brazier. Aside from a few dim sconces, the braziers were the only light against the encroaching night. Once finished, she withdrew to the front of the crowd of her faithful. As High Keeper, execution was one of her sacred duties. The slow lick of the torch crawled across the pyres, almost invisibly under the bulk of timber. Dry and smokeless, the kindling had been carefully prepared to ensure the condemned would be fully aware of their fate until the very end. They were mages. Male and female, young and old, dwed, uruk-ken, human – why, the smallest looked to still be in his teens – but none of it mattered, because they had all committed the sin of magic. Strangely, it felt reassuring. There was no equivocation, no prattling about duress, and no pleas for kindness. Instead, there was a single path that the brave and cowardly both would walk, ending bound at the stake. Only the All-Father would judge them now. Guttural screams replaced stoic silence. Flames chewed through flesh and spat out ash. Their embers wafted high into the air, but their voices rose even higher, a shrill, horrifying cry. The crackling pop of the wood was little more than a murmur compared to those wails. That was the sound of evil being exorcised, an offering of pain and an act of purification. It was not just justice – it was divine retribution made manifest in flame. As the last of the cries faded into the hiss of cinders, the High Keeper raised her sword. The silent crowd erupted into a chorus of cheers. She, however, stared into her blade. The steel was so well-polished that, as she passed it through the air, it could've been mistaken for a piece of the night's sky. Glinting starlight flowed across the blade in sparkling eddies, but one red arc eclipsed all else. High above, the comet streaked through the blackness, its glowing tail a fiery plume of red and gold. Her gaze drifted up from her sword, fixing upon that bloody wound, and she felt at that moment that the All-Father’s will came upon her. Each beat of her heart was transformed into the thump of war drums, each gust of the wind became the sharp call of a horn, the cheers of her faithful gave way to the bellowing chants of the All-Father's Einherjar striking out against heaven. They would not pray for mercy. Mercy was the currency of weak gods. They would pay for their entrance to his Halls with blood. STAR SIGNS The heavens now hold more than mystery – they hold power. We are adding a new custom plugin, Star Signs, which brings functionality to the stars in Lord of the Craft. You can use the /star info and /star examine commands to gain information about the plugin generally, and about the plugin's items, respectively. Stargazing Using a spyglass, you can now look at stars and other celestial objects – they twinkle, and all are uniquely named! There’s over six-hundred to spend your nights gazing at. Just remember, don’t look directly at the sun. Star Jars and Lenses Beyond just being able to look at the stars, you can also collect their light. To do this, you first need to craft a star jar. Star jars can be crafted using two glass blocks, and then either obsidian, an emerald, or a piece of coal. Lenses are tools you can hold in your off-hand to increase the brightness of the light you manage to collect. Depending on the jar and lens you use, the color of light collected will be more saturated or brighter, respectively. They don’t last forever, so use them wisely! To collect light, just look at a star and click with a star jar. Starlight Usually, you will collect starlight when using a star jar. You can do a few different things with starlight: Convert it into dye at a crafting bench Combine it with a piece of leather armor to give the armor the unique color of the star Combine it with an apple to produce starfruit Combine it with a lens to produce a shatterflask Starfruit Starfruit are charged with the power of the stars, and when consumed, temporarily transport you deep into the outer reaches of space. Normally, there is around ninety degrees of the Minecraft night sky which you are unable to see, because it’s obscured by the physical world. Starfruit places you so deep into space that you get the full three-hundred and sixty degrees of the sky to explore. Keep in mind, you can also build high in the world (literally, like a giant tower, or an observatory on top of a mountain) to be able to see more of the sky. Shatterflasks This handy combination of star jar and lens allows you to hurl a jar like a grenade. Shattering on impact, shatterflasks release an explosion of light, affecting nearby creatures in much the same fashion as drinking from the star jar that was used to make it. Light Beyond the Stars Besides just the stars in the sky, there are many other celestial objects and alien powers that fill our universe. Keep your eyes peeled, and your star jar ready – the ability to make things glow is not the only power we have added to the night’s sky. STARS Lord of the Craft has always been a place for creativity and exploration of new ideas. Star Signs is a unique plugin because, as far as I am aware, something like it has never been tried before in the history of Minecraft. It pulls elements from some of the old alchemy modpacks in the early 2010s, as well as the Sorcery! videogame series. However, there are no other servers which use the Minecraft sky as part of the crafting system for items in their gameplay. So, we can consider this a test run for whether we should continue to elaborate on this system. Currently, these items have roleplay effects, but minimal PvP effects. If you would like them to have PvP effects, I have set up the plugin's config to support this: you will just need to make it known to the staff and administration that you, as the community, want these abilities in wartime. One final point is that the lore provided in the star jars and other items is basic, and there does not exist any significant lore explanation for why or how you are able to capture the power of stars and celestial objects, and use it for magic. Therefore, I would like to encourage any or all of you to try your hand at creating a lore post for the Star Signs plugin -- if it is accepted, your lore could be placed into the plugin's /star examine command.
