Velkyn Valran Executed

Today has been a solemn and trying day for all the people of the Isles. One of our own has been unmasked as a traitor, an agent of the very Darkness we have all sworn to destroy. Velkyn Valran, who once stood as my trusted bodyguard, was discovered to have been consorting with no fewer than three covens, conspiring to bring ruin upon the Empire.

I have learned that she was the one who destroyed the church in Stirland, and when I confronted her about her crimes she attacked me. I was barely able to hold her off, but I was able to stab at her with my Azhl sword. She died of her wounds soon after.

When I learned of this betrayal, I was devastated. Yet the law is clear, and it must be upheld regardless of personal sorrow. Velkyn Valran's body was burned. Her remains were then utterly destroyed, her bones shattered, ensuring she shall never rise again to haunt or harm the living.

But I am not a cruel man, her kids shall be taken in by myself. Raised in the ways of the Northern Middenlandic people alongside the ways of God and Canondom. Let this be a lesson to all, House Winburgh shall show mercy but Darkspawn and those who hate God shall be taken out.

Larkin Mack Winburgh

Baron of the Isles, Guard of the Royal Guard, Son of the Midden

"Fork found in kitchen," spoke Varys, who didn't really know Velkyn like that, nor really cared to interact with her .. yet it still felt nice to quip on his daily browsing of missives, made him feel involved.

Mirabella scratched the side of her neck as she read the missive. Even now, she remembered the look on both the Count's face and her friend Aviel's too once they first laid eyes on the vandalized church in Stirland.

"What is one life comparted to an entire Empire?" she hummed.

How foolish it had been. She thought of the poor children, who lost a parent for failed plans, for nothing.

A woman thumbs that missive's surface with shaking hands. Her brows furrow together and her face drops with each line read, and then reread with a near manic obsession. "Shameful." Neia murmurs in a tone saturated with grief. "Is that why she wrote me? Did she know that the Winburgh boy was to betray her?"

Sat alone in a grimy kitchen, the sounds of a young child playing resound from the next room over. The mourning mother offers a quiet prayer to the skies above, and wonders silently how she is to explain eternity to one so small.

A Witch couldn't help but laugh, not at Velklyn, but at her own foolishness.
"Perhaps I ought to do everything myself."  A bitter remark
It was those who were in great desperation, after all, that she knew most. Although it seems misplaced again and again.

Still, she found it quite ironic, despite Velklyn possibly conspiring with those whom had betrayed her, those who had killed those she considered allies, those she intended to hunt.

It always seemed to be her that had offered mercy.

Malna stared at the missive. She knew she shouldn't cry, but even then tears fell, mixed with hoarse laughter that didn't sit right. There's a sketch of Velkyn somewhere, face blurry as it had been erased and redone. It never looked right.

"Life is never easy, is it? It just has to be complicated. I wish I were clueless again."

The paper ends up torn, the head no longer there, but the body of the sketch is kept.

A single tear dropped on the sheet of paper, as Viktor murmured. "It was my fault was not it? If I had simply cared about the child.. All of this would have not happened." The sheet landed on the ground as the man coughed and looked at the scenery on the window. "Although, she could have chosen to live a peaceful life, instead of trying to provoke the empire." The man murmured to himself, trying to feel better although deeply inside he knew that the wound on his heart would never heal.

Holy Ser Vincenzo, Chaptermaster of the Order of the Grail of Saint Lucien, would read the missive.. Shaking his head. "Expected as much, it is what happens when you put trust in an elf. It is sad to see that still many men are deceived by elves, but surely this will remind them, who GOD's chosen people are."

Rhorgvar Frostbeard would be found amongs his fellow kin, when he overhears the talk of the missive. He'd turn and speak out. "Bah, oi knew dey were nawt all good... Oi knew day 'ad sum Khorvadic illness tuh dem! Good on deh lad w'o killed em."
