The worn and tattered banner of Myrine, which Sakis had carried into battle at Westmark, flies high above Trident’s Peak, standing as a monument to a great victory. Cassius laments that his cousin would not live to see the ensuing peace.

Ser Meili Altwegg, who had always tried to uphold the honor of his house during the war, could bear such an atrocity as Sakis' death no longer. Having seen the Druscans ride away with the corpse of Sakis, it was Lord Meili who had rode to the Imperial Capital with his Avistran retinue to tell Crown-Prince Hadrian of the breaking of the charter. Alas, when the dust settled and all was said and done, Meili paused to mourn the lost Mareno.

"You were a needless casualty, my friend. Your death has been avenged tenfold, and may my honor  and the honor of House Altwegg persist." Spoke Meili within the comforts of Castle Avian

Madelief wept dearly upon hearing the news. Victory should‘ve tasted so sweet - and now its bitter in her mouth. A joy fallen to ashes, a cousin lost. She spent much time organizing Sakis Mareno‘s funeral in the coming days, to give him the sendoff a war hero deserves.

Meracahe made plans to attend the funeral. Out of all the deaths in recent years, this one had plagued him the most, and he could not help but gaze on wistfully into the distance. Had he only been there, perhaps things would have gone differently and his teacher would still be alive. He made a solemn vow to carry on honorably and to respect Sakis' sacrifice. This loss left him feeling pained and disturbed. Not long before, his friend Haakon had died as well. The Templar moved to reach for his mentor's old lantern and then stepped for the door. Justice had for too long evaded the peoples of Braevos. The vain and cruel-hearted openly pranced in the streets sowing disorder and cowardice. Sakis' memory would be carried forth with every swing of his mace. In every repudiation of the cruelty of men and their penchant for evil.

"I could not be there," he said to his friend Veluc at the bar some hours later. One could not hope to ascertain how much the burly Dark Elf had to drink in that moment. No amount of swill could heal him, as far as he was concerned the booze reeked of piss, and worst still it tasted hollow and watery. "Must the Aenguls be so cruel? Ah... I suppose he has gone on to Malchaediel's realm now. His life bought peace for an entire civilization. But there shall never be another Templar like Sakis Mareno."

The only thing that could mend his mood was the idea that somewhere out there, Sakis was looking down on him. So that he could still prove to his teacher that he was a worthwhile Templar. With that positive thought, Meracahe left Veluc in Caurost and made for his home to fetch his equipment. The roads might be a perilous place, but soon it would be made all the more perilous for brigands.

Calias II bowed his head, the weight of the news heavy upon him.
"Sakis Mareno did not die in vain. By his blood the war shall come to an end, and with his sacrifice he shall be remembered as our martyr, our flame eternal."
